I realize animals will never be put on the same level as humans but at the same time they have pets that they provide food, shelter, love, and medical expenses for. They would also never consider eating Fido because he is part of the family. There are a few differences, however, a pet and a child are not so apart in terms of care.

I would never advocate eating the family pet. I just think it is weird that some people who put so much into their pet do not seem willing to want extra rights to protect that pet.

Aside from my business, I also have an animal sanctuary and take in critters who are unwanted, dumped, and abused.

As a result, I'm a vegetarian who would never consider eating one of these creatures.

Bingo is wrong. We didn't put the homeless on the streets. They had unfortunate events that led them to the streets. And that other girl above me is wrong. You can get nutrients and proteins from other plants like nuts and beans. And animals eat each other. It's the life cycle. As a matter of fact humans cause more damage on the earth than animals ever will. And the person below me. Yes it is a choice to eat meat, but why eat it? Do you know where the meat came from? What food was the animal eating before it died? Have you ever seen how unsanitary slaughter houses are? They spray the meat down with chemical solutions to kill the bacteria on it. Do you know what is in the sprays? People die of cancer and studies are saying its because of what they are eating. I can actually give you a source. And I'm a vegan. I don't eat meat or meat products or anything that comes from an animal.

I love meat of all kinds, beef, pork, chicken, fish. But when you start talking about eating dogs, I DON"T FREAKING THINK SO! Unless of course like the girl above said, if I were starving. But I'm not so I'll go ahead and eat the meat that I can buy at stores. Also, as you say, Fido is a part of the family and noone wants to eat family members do they?

I'm all for treating animals humanely to a degree. We are the top of the food chain. We are supposed to eat meat. If treating animals with some kind of respect and dignity like they were humans is going to make me not able to get the meat I want for a price I'm willing to pay, then to hell with the animals, lets chop 'em up and eat them. I don't want dog or horse or cat, I want pig and cow and chicken. Thanks and have a nice day.

Animals aren't humans equal, if you think this is true, then you should go to a therapist..... I'm not going to eat a dog, you are very extreme, [another AMAZING QUALITY OF THE FAR LEFT] you are taking something tedious and making it extreme. There is nothing wrong with eating meat AND having a pet dog.

Blame the overall (and healthy) suspicion of radical activism. People love animals, just not PETA. People have plenty of friends and family who are gay, but reject the collective gay agenda. People love the great outdoors but see the environmental 'global warming' movement as a power grab by the UN.

The activists count on you seeing others who fail to gobble up the rhetoric as anti-animal, anti-environment, anti-gay. It is simply not true.

Humans can form emotional attachments to things beyond other humans. You don't eat a pet you've become fond of for the same reason you don't break your grandma's china plates.

It depends whay you mean by animal rights. I, for one, would never compare a family pet to a child.

With this question your poll numbers have gone into the negatives. Fail to see what this has to do with politics. Please use a different forum when posting crap.
