we already have a timetable for the war in Iraq. It is November of 2008. The RNC won't let the war be an issue in 2008. That means it has to be over by then. Wait and see.... this will happen.
by the way, we "can" set a timetable at any point. That doesn't mean we will withdraw all the troops. We will "never" withdraw all the troops. The important this is that to the Iraqis, it no longer "looks" like an occupation. They will surely accept support, it is the occupation that they do not like.

No. Thats a dangerous idea. If Congress succeeds in passing the timetables, it will be the same as America raising the white flag to Iran and the(ir) Insurgents. This would then jeopardize America's standing in the world and make countries not consider any ideas the U.S. puts across. I hope you find my answer helpful.

Not really a timetable so much as a plan that leaves some possibility of success...

I do not think we need a timetable. I think benchmarks without a set date would be a good idea so we can see if progress is being made.

I think we need to pick up our stuff and leave. If something happens it would only take us a couple of hours to reclaim the country and we would loose less troops during invasion than we are during the occupation.

Yes, it doesnt have to be said in public but yes.. there must end to everything.
We must plan to how to make a graceful exit from Iraq and let them take charge of their own country.

We do need to stop shouldering this entire load and make the Iraqi government start making progress. To me it just looks like they don't care about democracy. We can't force them to.
