usually stupid questions or obnoxious questions get a nasty answer.
sometimes the answer is meant to be funny or witty, but turns out sounding mean to the person reading it. Happens to me all the time, I type an answer that I think it freaking funny as hell, but then when I look at it later or get a warning message, I think "yeah, that sounded better in my head than on paper".
Of course, there are idiots out there who do nothing but type rude answers. Whatayagonnado?

They only stand out because of the shock value. Trust me there are more nice ones here and even the mean ones have nice sides....I know some of the most wicked here sent me the nicest of condolences.

because there are alot of ignorant people that are on yahoo and because you don't know them they are mean. its just like when you talk to a person on the phone say in customer service for some company,if they are not monitored they can and will say some nasty things

People can be mean anywhere you go. It's a shame we don't have a community on here that is safe for everyone.

I don't know why. They send you violation notices and you don't even do anything wrong. Or they write snappish comments to your answers. If they don't want answers, then why are they here?

I think it's because they can get away with it. They know that they will never meet you, so they assume it's alright and funny.Even though it's not.
