How much should I expect to pay?

It would depend on the exact distance but you can expect a meter drop of $2.50 to $3.50 and $2.00 to $3.00 a mile thereafter. That is information I am calling from memory. It hasn't been that long ago but it was before the $3.00 gasoline hit and San Francisco is one of the highest priced areas in the country with gas well over $3.00. Do a quick map search and get directions from the airport to your destination. All the mapping sites I use will give you the mileage. It will give you the added benefit of knowing where you are going and how to best get there as well as how long it should take. All cab drivers are not alike but there are some that will drive in circles to pad the bill if they think they can get away with it, especially if you are obviously not a local.

It should run from $35-45, depending on traffic conditions and where you're going.

Unless you have a lot of luggage, I'd definitely take the subway ($5.15). You'll save a lot of money. And the trains will get you Downtown in about 30 minutes (practically the same as a taxi). The station is next to Concourse G in the International Terminal.

I don't remember it being that bad. My husband and I took the cab from the airport to just in front of the Museum of Modern Art and I'm sure it was much more reasonable than I had expected--under 50 bucks for sure--but I feel it was even less than that. I think you should be fine with 40, but it never hurts to carry extra just in case.

Expect to pay between $25-$30. If you're not in a hurry, take the BART train instead. It leaves directly from the terminal and will only cost about $5.00.

Depending on traffic, around $30-35.

If you're traveling alone, it's much cheaper (as stated above) to take BART. Or, if you don't want to schlep your luggage, take a shuttle, which will drop you at your exact destination. You catch them on the upper floor (take the escalator from baggage claim and follow the signs). They're about $12.

Hi
For the money I would take BART from the Airport. It's easy and cost you less than $10.00. Cab's are a rip-off.
