That you are basically taking on a load that is unnecessary. You don't have to buy a plane to get peanuts, it's cheaper to buy them than getting the free peanuts and have to buy the plane. Marriage is described the same way. You can get the sex for a lot 'cheaper' (like dates and such) and you don't have to get married to get it. Sad quote, in a way it makes a good point.

I think the quote refers to the exorbitant price for such an "ordinary" thing (a tiny bag peanuts or easy sex) when both , more often than not, WILL become stale, leaving you with a lifetime to regret your folly. Leaving you with choices you won't want to make. It will be very difficult to sell your 747, or to divorce your spouse. What changes have you made?
But if you take a trip around the world with one or the other, maybe you will find that you really do love everything about these peanuts or this person ... still you don't have to jump into anything!!
You have to remember, there are thousands of others out there. Do yourself and any "little future you's" a favor and wait for the one you will keep it fresh with!
It is better to have loved and lost... without the paperwork.

It's like saying your not gonna get sex when your married so there is no point to get married just for the sex. It's about as pointless as spending a million dollar jet (747) for the free peanuts you get while on board.

Well, it's commonly known that airplane travellers get free peanuts during their flight; but if you want peanuts, you don't have to go to extremes and buy a plane (or a plane ticket) for that matter.
Similarly, if you want sex--one doesn't have to necessarily get married. Whoever came up with that quote is making a point that getting married for sex would be like buying a plane just to get the peanuts.
The person who orginated that quote probably feels that it's awfully silly to wait for marriage just to have sex...

It means that you're taking on a giantic responsibility/paying a huge price for one tiny, insignificant aspect.
Paying an enormous amount of money for a huge plane just for free peanuts is like spending the rest of your life with someone only because of the sex.
Make sense?

It is like the same thing as saying why buy the cow when the milk is free. You are paying for things that have nothing to do with the sex you are already getting for free.

It means marriage is a big commitment and if your only doing it for the sex, which is only a small part, is a stupid discussion.
