Trying to connect it to "Let there be light"?
hehe.. actually it's been said that it wasn't until later (100 000 y?) that the density of the matter in the universe dropped down to a point thin enough to allow light to travel freely; that the universe was opaque before then because every point within it was full of hot, dense matter.

Talk about your question of semantics. Applying the principal that the big bang created all matter and energy, it ultimately created the first light source. But the big bang was not the first light source (it was an event, not a chunk of matter/energy) and the universe was opaque in the beginning. There was no freely traveling light. But there were photons being emitted from a very early time onward. But, when did the big bang end? Was the big bang an instant with a time dimension equal to zero? Was it a quantum of time. If it was either of these, then it ended before photons were formed. If it was not one of these, then does it continue as long as the universe is expanding? The answer depends on some definitions which I am not sure have been created and agreed upon.

Don't you have to have EYES to see light?
