This is a very good idea on concept. Will a one day boycott work? No not ever. It might bring the price down 20 cents or so but with in a week it will be right back up. What will happen is that people will buy some gas on the 14th skip the 15th and fill up on the 16th so the same ammount of gas is being purchased, just in a diffrent pattern. You really want to bring the gas price down put together a week boycott. Every one takes vacation and stays at home for a week. This would bring gas down 10 fold what you are talking about. This would also give people quality time with their familys. The trucking industry has been trying to do the same thing for at least 20 years. You think 50$ is high to fill up try 550$ 5 0ut of 7 days a week. Don't get me wrong gas and deisel is outrageous right know. It will stay this way for a long time to come though. People need to change their driving habits and stop driving so much. This would lower the price quite a bit. You can't blame the gas producers for the reason of supply and demand. Ex: If you had 12 donuts and 24 cops that wanted on donut a piece you would sell them to the 12 cops willing to pay the most. This is called capitalisim. Know if you look back over history gas is really not went up that much in comparision to other commodities . A avarage car cost about 3500$ in 1970 and gas was about 60 cents per gallon. Know an average car equel to the one in 1970 is about 35000$ in 2007 an increase of 1000% the price in 1970. Know last average gas price i heard was 2.80. that is only an increase of about 460% scince 1970. Again don't get me wrong I don't like the gas price either but I do belive it is catching up with the rest of the economy. Like it or not. I know I sure don't cause I was spoilled with 1.00$ a gallon gas.

i won't buy gas on that day, but i really don't think that will work. I got an email that we need to boycott Exxon and mobile gas stations for the rest of the year. They are supposed to be the biggest ones and control the market price. so if no one gives them money, we can help drive the price down. But if we only do it one day, they will have record numbers for the surrounding days, right? I think we should do both. Also, go to you tube and look up the video "who killed the electric car". That might influence your decision on your next car purchase. Then if you have time, check out teslamotors.com. They are building an economy electric car to be out next year.

What would be the point. Wouldn't we still have to buy gas the next day? Also if everyone in the country didn't buy gas on that date it would cause a wave of services that wouldn't be able to operate resulting in damage to the economy.

Yes, this information was sent to me through e-mail but we did this last year and probably the year before. I mean I won't get gas on that day but we really should cut down on relying on cars so much to get to places. Walk, ride a bike, carpool...anything. I know people who'll drive just to go five blocks down the road to a store.
