Diesel fuel (petroleum based) does not go bad. It may have water from condensation or growth in it. If you can run it through a good filter system such as a Racor with a 1 micron element and add it to whatever you have diesel in. There are companies that will "polish" the fuel for you, doing just what I described.

Unless you have several hundred gallons, it is not going to be worth your time and effort to try to reclaim that diesel.

You could run it through a fuel filter, then through a water separator, then add a good diesel treatment additive that includes an anti-microbial agent. Be sure and thoroughly clean the tank it came out of, or you will contaminate any new fuel you buy, or your old fuel if you choose to reclaim it.

Depending on the amount in consideration here are few things to keep in mind.

Diesel engines, fuel pumps and injectors are very difficult and costly to repair therefore compare that with the value of money saved by reusing the old fuel.

Perhaps you can sell or trade it to the oil company for newer fuel at a minimal cost.

Run it in some less critical and older equipment after filteration and water removal.

Strain it through a pair of fine mesh ladies tights, doubled, over a container. Leave to stand for a while in a transparent 5 gal. container (or more than one if there is more fuel) the diesel will float above any water that may be in the diesel, making the diesel easy to 'pour off'
Whatever you put the diesel in it would make sense to ensure new filter is fitted.
There must be quite a bit if you are prepared to go to all that trouble.
