find a new job

2007-05-08 05:38:42 · answer #1 · answered by skcs11 7 · 0 0

It depends on who they are conflicting. I know some people that have had to quit their jobs due to conflicting values. I used to work for a company that was being sued for copyright infringements because of the job that I was doing and as soon as I found out about it (3 days into the job) and asked my boss (who could not give a straight response) I knew that I had to quit. Quitting is not always the best solution though, sometimes you just need to take a stand and figure out a new way to go about doing your work. Good Luck!

Essentially, I think that you have to find a job that is in line with your values....that is to say, if there is one. If leaving is not an option, create a filter by which you can analyze all aspects of the work you are doing. Find out which ones create the most difficulty for you and get counselling to deal with the stress. Workplaces can change too, so unless your values infringe on someone else's rights, maybe there are ways to explore the issues at work (Probably not).

Well values should always be a cut above just about any decision...of course there are values that are complete moral issues and some that are smaller personal ones...you have to weigh what it is...but a job is a job...you can't find another set of values once you've thrown them in like u can a job.

Been there -- tough call. If you ABSOLUTELY MUST keep the job, compromise as little as possible, but cover yourself and try to do what you think is best without getting canned.

If you DON'T have to have the job, or you can easily find another one, address the situation directly and DO NOT compromise your values. You are the one that must live with the consequences. And, you may actually be able to change things for the better if you stand up for what you believe in. That is what finally ended up happening with me.

Depends on how deep your values run and what they're based on. A person's values should define who they are, not their job...so Values and priciples should come first, no matter the cost.

I, personally, had to get another job as soon as possible. I just couldn't do something that I totally disagreed with.

If your boss forces you to do something that goes against your values, then you need to get a different job.

Sorry.

Good luck! :)

With enough money to rationalize away your values. Or quit. Any other options are simply variations of these 2
