Why do U.S Universities have more Asian Students then any other race besides whites?

Actually, your figures are incorrect.

In the US, the number of blacks with a college degree is approximately equal to the number of Asians with a college degree. However -- you are partly right, since more than half the Asians in the US get a degree and only 17% of blacks do. Since there are three times as many blacks in the US as Asians, the numbers turn out to be about the same.

If you are in the West Coast, it may seem like this is not true. The majority of Asians in the US are on the west coast. This means that West coast schools have more Asians than blacks, while Southern and East Coast schools have more blacks than Asians.

For example, the University of Alabama (which could be considered an Historically White University) is now about 11% black but only 1% Asian.

As for the reasons -- I suspect that you will find that socioeconomic background is more important than ability.

Maybe people will not like my answer but it is true. Asians give a LOT of importance to a good education. Their parents worked their a s s off just to send them to school, they know that a good education will provide a better life for their kids. I'm not saying that blacks and Hispanics don't consider this, but they also consider that if they work hard even if they don't go to college, they will have a good life too.
Also we have to take into account that most of the Asian kids are foreign students. Take China as an example. In a country were 1.5 billion people live, 1 % of them studying is a lot of people so the proportion is that you will see more of them in your university. The same apply to Indian students

1) The largest countries in the world, by population, are Asian (China and India).

2) These countries don't have nearly as many colleges and universities as we do.

3) Their universities don't have the great reputation ours do.

4) In order to get out of their country to study in ours, they have to be the best of the best, so competition to get into college is very fierce, unlike here, where anyone can go. So the students that get into our schools are usually much smarter than us, and more dedicate to their education. And thus much more likely to reflect well on the school, so the schools would rather have them than us.
