Have to agree with the poster about how quiet the "non-radical" Muslims are, both here in the US and across the world, especially if Islam is a truly "peaceful" religion. Why are the Imams here in the US so quiet? Do they know something we don't? Are they taught differently than what is presented to the world? Speak up please!! Look what happened in the thirties and forties when the Catholic Church didn't speak up in Germany. By keeping silent, all muslims proclaim with a gigantic voice- "Death to unbelievers!" If this is not what you believe speak up. Your God, your Allah, demands it IF he is merciful, IF he is loving.

I wondered why would their lawyer want the blame put on the individuals instead of the religion? Isn't he supposed to try to show reduced culpability on their part?
Maybe it's that, if they did it for religious reasons, it becomes a "hate crime" and they have even greater culpability?
That would be logical; but I would actually prefer that it be more like a "treason crime" or something like that.

Where is the outcry from the "peaceful" Islamic folks denouncing the actions of the "few"? Awfully quiet aren't they. I think their silence speaks volumes.

But not all Islamics are like that. Many of them are very peacefull people. It's like saying people of minority are all criminals. There are the bad guys who give their race or religion a bad name and it isnt fair to the good ones. Just like white people...... there are some pretty nasty criminal whites. As a matter of fact most of the famous serial killers are white but I am white and I am not like them.

yes. as i am equally tired of the " it's the criminals, stupid" response of the supporters of the united states ridiculous obsession with the gun, every time that someone legally entitled to carry arms commits some atrocity on innocent people.

That's a two edged sword you are using. Do you take the same approach to verbal and physical abuse of gay citizens by those claiming to be Christian? Or to acts of arson and murders of Womens Clinic personnel by those claiming to be Christian? Or to the obnoxious slurs screamed by protestors (mainly anti gay) outside of soldiers funerals by those claiming to be Christian?
When I broach these things with friends I am told that those acts are not indicative of the faith, just of the people performing those actions.

I am definitely not an expert on Islam (I am a Christian), but I don't think that there is anything in their religion that tells them to kill so many people. I really don't think that it is the religions fault in this case.

That lawyer and his clients should all be hung, drawn and quartered. Their heads should sit on sticks at the main gate of the base and their hands should be nailed to the door of their mosque.
Then we can get mean.
