You can not log onto the c$ share it is purely an accounting administrative share. NEVER share the whole system drive, this is the fastest way to accidentally trash the machine over the network. A single incorrect copy, move or edit can stop the machine. The recycle bin does not function over the network. Create a folder for sharing. Right click it and set sharing.

You need to set the work group file on the other computers to match the work group of your computer. Then make the files, folders or the whole drive as sharing on the computers you want to share file with. In other words all computers must be using the same work group name.

Ditto what missing u2323 said,

Start>> Run
\\other_computer_IP_address\c$

With any luck you'll be prompted for a username\password.
