The answer is in the questions.Manchester United have more FANS than anyone else so therefore jealousy is rife. Most use the excuse against United fans not coming from Manchester. Thats a load of rubbish and always have been. Fact is United have more fans in Manchester than Citeh. They cant fill their ground yet are supposed to ahve more fans, do me a favour. Back to the fans bit. A FAN is someone who watches the team on telly and is "fanatical" about the team. A SUPPORTER is someone who pays to watch their team. So 70,000 plus "supporters" each week, plus millions of fans throughout the world shows that we are have the most popular team. When you consider there are so many other teams in the league, its no wonder they are jealous of United fans coming from their home town. By the way Im a Manc red for 40+ years. Supporter for most but now a fan as cant afford it any more.

We're not glory hunters, rude..etc. We're like all other fans, we have our rude, glory hunting fans and we have the true fans, who are in it for the love of the team and the game, such as myself.

I think people are mean towards United because of the success of the team. But that's fine.. they can be that way. Personally, I don't dislike any team for their success, otherwise I'd hate AC Milan. Rather, I have a lot of respect for AC.

Lol at 'real' Manchester fans supporting City. I guess that means 'real' Manchester fans support dirty play as opposed to fair play?

By the way... the comment about us fans not really being to games.. guess what? I'm Portuguese, yeah, I haven't been to a game but I plan on going one day. My dad went to a few games back in the day, and I plan on doing the same. Just because I don't live in Manchester it doesn't mean I can't support them. That's a ridiculous theory... sorry if I don't have the money! I am a fan of Maritimo, which is my hometown team in Portugal, but I wasnt born in Manchester, so how is it my fault if I liked them and my Dad liked them? That's unfair.

I personally have problems with man u fans. Most of them are obnoxious people who loves to get in your face. They just don't respect other people's opinion. Just look at how many gave thumbdowns on this board. Sensitive are we??

At the moment I've only met and respect one true Man U fan. He's been a Red Devil for almost 30 years and he was my lecturer at uni. He was even willing to admit that they are not the best in Europe.. or any English team for that matter. If they were, England would have more winners in the Champion's League and UEFA cup.

I think they don't just hate the fans but actually the team cos jealousy n the teams fame that ithas got in the English league and also in the c.p. league and as matter of fact people worldwide had heard of them and that is why these hatred are been imposed to the fans and also i think we the fans are little bit proud and also boast a little bit but that shouldn't be your case for if the tim is doing n some1is boasting of it support your to gain also such fame that is all

The answers you will get consist of:

They are glory hunters
They've never been to Old Trafford
They live in Surrey
Some other bollocks

The real reason is after almost total domination of the Premiership in the 90's (bloody West Ham 95) people have come to hate us........People don't like other peoples success.

Chelsea fans maybe a little different - they probably don't like the fact that we made our money through success on the pitch and a huge, loyal fan base rather than Russian Mafia investment.

because most of the people who say they hate man utd fans are very jealous , small minded, idiots. If it was Southampton who were as great as utd this season , and many before, they would get the same treatment . The usual bitter morons on here haven"t got anything constructive to say about their own team so they have to slag off the successful team which is usually united , so get a life twisted one"s , support your team , and be happy at the entertainment value you got from utd this season , glory , glory ,............

1) it may be a cliche, but most of their fans do not come from manchester
2) they are mostly ignorant and arrogant (not unlike most supporters of successful clubs)
3) the growth of their support has grown with the growth of their success (not unlike many other clubs)
4) probably because they are everywhere - you go and see a game in London in a pub, say Spurs vs Man Utd, and most people there will be Man Utd fans
5) because they have been successful, they have had years of gloating, therefore they become even more irritating
6) they have had many very annoying players over the years - Keane, McClair, Neville, Hughes, Pallister who exude and mirror the arrogance of their fans

that's about it for me!

Because Man Utd have some of the best players and other teams are jealous and because we have Cristiano Ronaldo

I think it's because most ManU fans I know have never been to a single game, let alone been to Old Trafford, they know nothing about the game or it's history - only the Premier history, and they also never stop moaning, even when they win they find something to whinge about rather than celebrate success. Add to that they are one of the teams responsible for driving wages and player costs sky high - Rooney, Ferdinand, Carrick etc.
