Today's Oprah Show episode was about a battered woman whose abuse was captured on video by her children who were forced to tape it. The woman went into detail about the verbal, emotional and physical abuse, and then told of how she reached out to a co-worker to help her escape.

I just wanted to know if this episode helped anyone to either get help for themselves or how to look for the warning signs of abuse and take actions to help someone else.

It certainly did. I am now 74 years old, but I am convinced that had I not seen the episodes about "battered wives, a year later", I would not be alive today. That one show kept ringing in my ears and echoing in my mind. Outstanding thoughts of the women who had been on the year before, but were killed by their spouses, helped me make the decision that things would NOT get any better. The last time my EX hit me, I called 911 and had him physically removed. I got a restraining order, and I then made arrangements to move to another address. What a LIBERATION !! If only we, as women, can learn to love ourselves more, and learn that we cannot retrain a grown man.

I disagree that the lady's son became right into a freak for taping his mom's abuse. it sort of feels it labored. It became into made public for the two the households and the entire international to work out. There would nicely be no denial or excuses . merely think of, that's one undesirable lady's plight. There are hundreds of hundreds of females suited now getting the crap beat out them in front of their babies . Now you abusers can see what it sounds like. So cease pretending which you're actually not a bully and a tyrant

YES!!! I watched it and also watched when it re-aired last night. What a brave woman and a terrible story. I had a huge knot in my stomach throughout the whole show. I know I will be looking for warning signs that she mentioned. You never know who you could be helping so I will always be extra aware of women I know and watch real close for warning signs, for myself as well as other women. Plus I Love Oprah!! You go girl!!!!

In this case it should be more or less called child abuse, because those kids were forced to tape it . I hope that they caught him locked him up and threw away the key.

But don't also forget men are battered. Strange, isn't it?

I didn't see it, but it sounds pretty harrowing. It's not only the woman who is suffering here, but the kids, too.
