I take mine at night - just before I go to sleep! I also take them with Cranberry juice - it doesn't make my mouth dry and taste disgusting! I would continue to take some form of prenatal vitamin...

If you don't like taking this specific kind - go to Walmart - they have some that are over the counter....

I have also heard that 3 Flintstone Vitamins are the equivalence to 1 prenatal.... The taste is a lot better!

Good Luck!

Absolutely not. You should mention it though to your doctor at your next visit or maybe sooner. He/she may be able to put you on another one that may not have such bad side effects. My mother told me that the best time to take the prenatal vitamin is at night, right before bed, that way you sleep through alot of the possible side effects. You don't want to stop taking the vitamin, especially now when your baby is in the most important stage of development. If your baby doesn't get the right nutrients now, he/she could have brain development issues, just to name one. You just need to sacrifice your feeling bad for the health of your baby. The side effects of the vitamins should wear off as you get into your 2ND trimester, when the morning sickness in general seems to diminish. Congratulations!

I would not stop taking them as they are most vital during the first three months for the baby's development, however, ask your doctor at the next appointment, to recommend a different type or brand of prenatals for you. Sometimes they can give you chewables as long as they have a certain amount of what you need in them, you can take them, just call the doctor's office and possibly the office manager can recommend something for ya!!! :) Good Luck, just don't stop taking them!

My doctor had me take 2 children's chewable vitamins a day. I couldn't take the prenatal vitamins either (in some people the iron makes you sick). Talk to your doctor and see what they recommend for you. Any type of vitamin is better than no vitamin at all.

Good luck!

You should be taking something like flinstones vitamins at least. You should call your doctor and tell him/her that the vitamins are making you sick and see what is said. Flintones vitamins are pretty darn good and shouldn't make you sick. Take one in the am and one in the pm.
I wouldn't stop all vitamins because you and your baby really need them. However, I don't see the point in women taking vitamins that make them sick and they can't eat a healthy diet.

Do not stop taking the pills. Call your doctor and ask her if she could prescribe a differeent brand of prenatals. The vitamins are for your baby's health so don't stop taking them.

Take them at night. If they make you sick, have a bedtime snack and then take the vitamin right before bed. Your body makes the most of any vitamins when you take them before bed anyway, prenatal or otherwise.

Yeah - you need those vitamins... but there's a few things you can do. Call the doc and they will give you different ones. Try taking them before bed time. Take flinstones instead.

I had the same problem. Tried everything. The doc switched my vitamins and all has been well ever since.

But you DO need to take them : )

Don't stop because your doctor will only tell you this: try taking them at night after you eat. Make sure you try to eat at least a little bit of protein before you take it. You are not the only one to feel this way about prenatals. Just keep taking them, because your baby needs it. Soon you will be used to them.

Mine always made me sick, too.
Play around with the time of day that you take them. If you're always more nauseous in the morning, take them in the afternoon with your lunch. If you're sicker in the evening, take them in the morning. Always take them with some food or milk and a full glass of water.

I found that it was better for me to take them with a glass of milk and some crackers and then wait about 10 minutes before eating my meal, they stayed down better that way.

Don't stop taking them, though! Baby needs those vitamins and the iron, and YOU need them, too, to keep your bones, teeth, and body healthy for the long job it has ahead.

Congratulations and good luck!
