Hello, I have and 8 year old special needs child. He gets tired whenever we go on family outings and refuses to walk. He has out grown is old wagon and is becoming increasingly heavier to carry. I need to find a large wagon or stroller type device to take on outings with us anyone know where I can purchase something like that?

I personally LOVE the Convaid products:

They make a lot of GREAT strollers that your son could use for years. They are very sturdy. Some insurances cover them. I've also seen them for sale used on ebay. Many medical supply stores carry the Convaid brand. Good luck!

Contact the school where your son goes or your service coordinator. You might be able to get 1 from them.... Or get a perscription for 1 from your son's doctor. So insurance may cover the cost of a wheelchair. You can go into a Pharmacy and buy a travel wheelchair for under 160.00. I know Sam club sells it .I love the travel 1 casue its got good big tires, lightweight , easy to store and transport.

I know Grego had a stroller out with the hugh wheels that was nice, but it still might be too small for what you need.....

I had a client who had a special wheelchair/stroller and it was almost 1,000 but medicare paid for most of it..

Contact your local Center for Independent Living or ARC(formerly the Aid to Retarded Citizens) they should be able to find something for you and help you pay for it. If neither of those groups are available in your area call Easter Seals.

The Axiom 3 (quite expensive), is designed for teenagers and even into adulthood. It also has a range of belts to suit younger children. I think this would probably suit your situation.
