Today I responded to question about Muslims and the violence in the Middle east with this answer:
The Muslim Extremist are no different than the "Christian" Extremist that kill abortion clinic Doctors.
There are many peace loving people that practice Islam, just as there are many peace loving Christians.
The problem is the Islamic Fascist in the world that want to kill all of the Infidels (everyone not them) and push the Jews into the sea. These nuts want to bring about Armageddon so that their "God" will return and rule the world under Islamic law. Then, they will all go to "heaven" and get their 72 virgins.
I have received emails saying this is offensive to Christians. How so? I am a Christian… and I surely do not support anyone who kills someone in the name of God.

Extremists in any religion is both politically and morally wrong. As a Christian, I am both politically and morally offended that the Catholic and Evangelical churches would promote and protect lawbreaking illegal immigrants and would technically cecede from the United States in the process. The church is supposed to be totally separate from the state and any interference whatsoever with the laws of the land and any politicking in the church should be cause for immediate revocation of the church's tax exemption. No political candidates should ever speak in churches and the church should never be used for any political purpose whatsoever, including voting! As it stands, the church seems to think that it is above the law and is harboring fugitives and promoting illegal immigration. The fact is that the church is sponsoring a takeover of the USA and is sponsoring terrorists and subversives through its gullibility or maybe they are doing it on purpose?
Personally, I am opposed to abortion. However the choice regarding whether to have an abortion or not is clearly one that should be between the woman and her GOD. It should not be legislated. Scientific evidence regarding the state of life is divided and the question is political and not really religious. It's another case of religion trying to force their laws on the populace. I don't believe in the death penalty or war either. However, the death penalty is a political and legal act. War has been fought by Christians against other religions and more wars have been fought in the name of religion than anything else. So, that makes me wonder about the truth in religion in general. One of the 10 commandments states -- Thou shalt not kill. I don't see any exceptions in that commandment. When God supposedly asked for human sacrifices as a test of loyalty and belief, had the sacrifice been made, wouldn't that have been killing? How is that following "Thou shalt not kill"?
When Jesus said "Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's and give unto God what is God's", I didn't see any exceptions regarding obeying the laws, did you? So how does the church justify getting involved in the illegal immigration issue and supporting lawbreakers? Maybe the Church needs to be investigated and the heads and deacons and others who are promoting the lawbreaking activities should be jailed under both man and God's laws. They aren't following either. They are representatives of the Devil posing as God's emmisaries.

It's not offensive. In fact, I don't think you should even have to mention your stance on abortion. That there exist extremists in any religion or social group is a given; it's obvious. However, by even mentioning Christianity in connection with violence will render you helpless against the throngs who refuse to believe that there is such a thing as extremists in Christianity. Some Christians (note, "some") who see their religion as absolutely perfect and correct completely disregard the fact that a person may kill in the name of the God they worship.

Well , the peace lovers should do everything that they can to prevent the forming of these extremist groups . If people would take a look at themselves and not blame the government that they elected for all of their problems the world would be a better and more peaceful place . Then we could concentrate on the real issues of how can we allow oil companies to make $ 37 billion in profits !!

Shear numbers.
How many abortion doctors have been killed in the United States compare to the number of killed by Muslism terrorist.
Why can't we say the same about the envorimental movement how would they feel if they were compared to Muslim terrorists.
Please tell me how many Christians stood up and praised the efforts of the abortion bomber on TV compared to the Muslims dancing in the street on 911.
That is how it is offensive compare to Muslim terrorists they have killed more than KKK, Spainish Inquistion, & IRA.
You don't see Muslims out protesting beheadings and I have yet to see Christians protest burning the Bible the way Muslims killed over a fake story about the Bible.

You are right. It is ignorant to kill abortion clinic doctors. It is ignorant to claim you are doing it in the name of God.
That statement is neither politically or morally wrong.
Muslim Extremists killed thousands of Americans on 9/11 while praising Allah. They don't get a free pass because they are praying to their God while doing it.

I do not think it is offensive. I am a Christian too. I think the comparison is valid. Both groups distort their faith to push their own agenda. I guess people might be offended because Muslim extremist kill thousands upon thousands of more people than the current Christian extremists.

So, what's wrong with being offensive? And who are these Christians whining about it, rather than turning the other cheek as Jesus taught? They can be offended, or not offended, it really has very little to do with anything you say or do.

unfortunately we have our extremists on this side too and they can't see past the ends of their noses either. There are bad people on this side too. To turn a blind eye to that... is to put your head in the sand just like those far lefties on the other side of the equation.

When was the last time an Islamic suicide bomber killed innocent people? Yesterday, if I remember correctly.
When was the last time anyone was shot at an abortion clinic? Doesn't happen every day, does it? In fact, I doubt there have been any for YEARS.
Your comparison may not have been politically or morally wrong, but it is logically wrong as you are comparing the formally taught ideology of murder to the isolated acts of loners.
