As a corner in high school I would like to contend it is probably requires the quickest, most agile of people on earth at the position.
That said, Samuel is much faster than Champ. Watch Samuel when the ball is in the air, he closes so well on recievers. Champ has great closing speed as well, but he usually has great position on almost every play. he plays the ball better than Samuel. Samuel is the corner of the future, while Champ is on his last legs. So I'd say this year Samuel will overtake Champ as the premier corner of the league.

Asanti, is a great CB, but the truth is that the Pats front 8 made Asanti what he is. without Richard Simmore breathing down the QB's neck, Asanti wouldn't get so many INT's. i really do think he is great and could get better. but now, i want to see him be as good as he was when he was a patriot. Champ Bailey overall one of the best CB in the league, QB's don't throw the ball his way.

Way to early to tell. Ask the average football fan who Asanti Samuel is and then ask who Champ Bailey is. 10 out of 10 times unless in boston, they will know champ bailey before samuel. Samuel in like 2-3 more years will then be on the level that bailey reached .

Interceptions and/or passes deflected don't tell you how good a CB is.
It could be because QBs throw to often to that corner or because he has good hands.
The best corners didn't have too many interceptions: Darrell Green had 54, Deion Sanders 53, Aeneas Williams 55, Mel Blount 57, and so on.
Champ Bailey has 39 but 18 were in the last 2 seasons

Champ Bailey is the only, and I repeat, the ONLY shut down corner in the NFL. You just don't throw his direction, period. Sure Samuel has the same number of INT, but he got thrown at probably 3 times as much. Champ is without a doubt heads and shoulders better than any other CB in the NFL.

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLL NO!!!! Asante Samuel had one good year which was last season. He matched the same number of interceptions, but before last year, he was average. Champ consistently has good years. Besides, Offensive Coordinators don't customize their game plans to keep Asante out of the game as much as possible. OFFENSIVE COORDINATORS CUSTOMIZE THEIR GAME PLANS TO STAY AWAY FROM CHAMP'S SIDE OF THE FIELD. Champ is a shutdown corner. Asante still has a lot to prove before anybody can say he is as good as Champ.
Besides, Asante is crying like a little girl because the Pats won't give him a pay raise. They shouldn't, not just yet. HE HAS ONLY HAD ONE GOOD YEAR SO FAR! If he does the same this year or better then give him a raise, but he still ain't as good as my boy Champ.
GO BRONCOS!!

I am a huge Patriots fan, I also like Samuel, but comparing him to those guys is alittle off. Granted Samuel had tied the leage with INT's but that means they took alot of shots at him. If you watch the films closly he gets beat an awful lot. He is a good corner, but not elite, not yet anyway. Go Pats!!!

covering he is as good as Bailey but he doesn't have as much speed as Champ. But overall they are about the same but i would give the slight edge to Champ.
