If he makes top Rep. for Pres, I'm def throwing my vote his way.

He's real. Not fake like all these others. Out of all the major politicians in this country, he is the only one that seems genuine. The ONLY one in the last 30yrs.

He's a Soldier. He knows what it takes to win, he knows what we should do, and most importantly, He knows he should listen to the people on the ground when making his decisions.

I met McCain once many years ago. He was with his wife,
outside of a large store in a small shopping center in Virginia Beach. His wife grabbed my arm and said she wanted me to meet someone, the man with the name on the pow bracelet
I happened across when they were being sold in our area.
I had given it to her when I found it. (And she sold them, no less, to help with our local effort, to bring all of our men home.)
I was as impressed with his true caring for the Americans
here as well as the still missing POWs. He helped in this effort, and with his strong sense of constitutional values, and
his devotion to this country, we'd be lucky to have him.

Ok, I am going to do something stupid here. I am going to discuss the man instead of the party. I have not paid much attention to the race so far, and I won't until it gets narrowed down to a few candidates. That said, so far I would pick McCain as the Republican simply because he does go his own way on some issues. Not the strict party line. Seems to be more of a moderate than conservative on some things. Which is refreshing in this day where no one is liberal or conservative any more, they are all radical. Just reading the answers to this question proves that. If anyone agrees with liberals or Conservatives on ALL issues and see NO common ground, they do not think for themselves. And if we can't come to an agreement, then we are radicals.

The campaign finance reform bill that bears his name is the reason I'd never vote for him. There are only three possibilities to explain how he could have written it:

1. He's stupid
2. He's dishonest
3. He doesn't love Freedom

The whole concept of the bill was to limit the amount individuals and corporations can give to candidates, and limit what they can do with the money. This in and of itself is a violation of the liberty of the owners of that money to do with it as they choose, which would be enough, except that it's easily predictable that those that want to avoid its effects will find a way. That raises the question of whether he's too stupid to have foreseen it, or simply trying to hoodwink voters into thinking he's actually doing something about money buying votes in Washington.

The only honest solution to that problem, by the way, is to take the influence buying side of the equation as a given, and limit how much influence elected officials actually have to sell, by keeping the federal government within the limits of the Constitution.

Anyway, McCain is the worst of the Republican choices in my book, but who cares what I think, because I'll probably vote Libertarian again.

I have views that differ with Mccain. The only way I would vote for him, is if Clinton wins the Democratic Nomination.

I can't vote for a socialist that is promising to violate the Bill of Rights.

I have to say it is very unlikely that I will support McCain.
His weakness on immigration really solidified that for me. If I could point to one reason why he will lose the nomination it will be that.
I am aware that the other top tier candidates also have very poor positions on immigration but they did not write the bills, nor do they regularly go on tv and tell obvious bold faced lies concerning it. I have had enough of politicians telling me reality just aint so.

He was, and is, a national hero for his actions in Vietnam but issues are more than relevant.

He is the worst of a bad bunch.(republicans)
Because he was a POW in another useless war, he tries to justify what the military is doing now.
He is the only one who is "gung ho" about "winning" the war in Iraq. This invasion has accomplished its stated goal which was to get rid of Hussein and WMD.(Bush lied...there weren't any.)
Let's get out of there and give our country some respectability by electing a thinking person like Clinton or Obama.

Real? You mean like what he said about all the soldiers deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan...wasted lives?
Of course he apologized for it when he came under fire for saying it by people who actually THINK..the dems.
And even though he apologized for saying such a stupid thing, former soldier or no, this dishonorable disregard for the soldiers lives and sacrifices found in his heart and showed itself when it came out of his mouth forever turned me against him.
He was a soldier and now is a politician.
The real soldiers are fighting and dying in a war his party started.

McCain has been caught numerous times saying conflicting statements. I do like him and would vote for him if he were the republican candidate. All the democrats are retarded. I hope McCain is the top dog but I would vote for him before I EVER vote for a stupid democrat

Regardless of what he did in Vietnam, John McCain is a political opportunist of the worst sort. He kowtows to anyone that can possibly give him any sort of advantage. The man has no spine. he is the absolute worst thing that could happen to this country. We'd be going from bad to worse.

I don't know bro, I am pulling for Fred Thompson to enter the race. McCain I real don't think he is the best the USA has to offer. But I like him better than Rudy.
