Depends what the alternatives are ..

I'm going to assume you mean 'mini-cab' (as opposed to London Taxi)...

It is quite possible to make a living, however it can be hard work and for sure (to make decent money) unsocial hours.

This means to be willing to take people to the Airport at 5am during the week and hang around outside Disco's and Pub's at closing time, often 2am Friday & Saturday, hang around outside Stations (when local Business staff are arriving) and outside Hotels (when customers are leaving)

Cabs are known to 'pinch' each others customers ... for example, turning up at Hotels and announcing 'Cab for the airport ?' .... (this can get your tyres slashed if you are caught)

Ideal is the Business Customer ... once you have him you can keep him (by doing 'cheap' private jobs) - most Businesses don't question the Taxi expenses too closely and often the Business customer will give you a decent tip (so long as you include it in the reciept :-) )

Yes and no !

Yes it's good , because almost anybody can do it !

No because you are stuck on your backside all day....and sometimes all night.....putting your back in jeopardy....being more likely to get back problems ....you are more likely to be in an accident....you are more likely to get mugged....you cannot predict your income from week to week .....Your car decreases in value very quickly.....You will have expensive repairs on your car more frequently.....

When you have time off......you are losing money....and spending money at the same time ! Which means you don't enjoy your time off as other people do......it's hard to eat a balanced diet....and you end up eating junk food from greasy bills cafe !

You have to pay your settle or insurance fees , no matter how little money to make or take !
