I am thinking USC.

Kevin B, VT coming into Death Valley and beating my Tigers is laughable. If all we have to worry about is the Hookies, I like our chances.

FightOn, your statement about USC having the best defense and backfield in the country is false. LSU's defense was ranked #1 last year, they lost 1 starter, and will have all American Glen Dorsey back this season. I am predicting another #1 ranked defense this season. USC has a great backfield and it is comparable to LSU's, but in no way is it better. It is possible that neither team will make it to the NC, but I predict LSU 35 USC 17.

Why is it that a state as large as California can't produce a quarterback for USC. They have to go to a small state like Louisiana to find one. The reason is that high schools in Louisiana are more serious when it comes to their football and the competition is intense. As for Jamarcus Russell, he wasn't necessarily the best quarterback at LSU. He played 1st string because he was more experienced. I look for Ryan Perriloux to take his place.

a few people have stated LSU will beat USC based on th fact that the SEC is stronger than the PAC 10...while i do agree w/ this, i dont see how that justifies LSU winning. yes its a tougher conference, yes its the toughest in the nation..BUT the conferences dont play, the teams do...match the teams up and the victor is quite obvious...USC has better defense (clearly the best D in the country coming into the season), a returning possible heisman candidate qb while lsu will have a 1st yr starter, USC has an insane backfield, 5 guys would start at any other school, lsu prob wins the battle of wrs only because they have 1 returning star while usc has young yet strong wrs (all of which have game time experience), USC special teams is filled w/ players that would start on any other D if they werent at USC right now, kickoff/punt cov will be spectacular this year...LSU is prob the best match up to USC in the country, but theres no way they can beat USC...

* while it would be played in LSUs backyard, it is also a homecoming for USC qb JDB...thats enough motivation for anyone...

1st to LSU Balls...dont get me wrong, i never said LSUs D wasnt going to be great...but USCs is looking like its shaping up to be the best...and i dont see either team scoring 35 in that game. honestly w/ the Ds that will be on the field id be surprised if either scored over 24...how does 21-17 USC sound??? haha either way its would be a great game!

2cd to the moron below Calil C...ACTUALLY USC has 4 CA QBs on its roster...Sanchez ( CA player of the year as a sr), Green (all CIF/League as a SR), McDonald (a 5th sr that only plays when we score TDs ie hes the holder) and Corp (the 2cd best qb prospect behind Clausen in this years class)

so obviously we dont need to go outside CA...the better question is this...whats wrong w/ LSU that made the #1 prospect ( Booty was the #1 player coming out of high school) leave his home state????

Florida lost 19 starters last year, so they will be lucky to make a bowl anytime after December 28th. They have no players left. The Tennessee Volunteers will give LSU a run for their money in the SEC, but I think LSU wins the conference and heads to the Nat. Championship game. They will play either Michigan or USC, whomever the voters chose. I hope Michigan wins, but LSU will be a clear favorite against anyone because of theor speed on defense. Actually, whoever wins the SEC will be the favorite in the national championship game. That conference is tough.

I would say LSU over USC. Sec is by far the best conference, and if LSU makes it out of there, they will be battle tested enough to beat USC in the champ game.

Not happening. Although I don't think Florida will repeat as NC (though they might) LSU would have to beat Florida in the SEC championship game, and that's not happening.

They won't make it there...they have to play VT on Sept 8. The Hokies are going to Baton Rouge and spanking the Tigers in front of their home crowd. VT National Champs.
