What heirloom varieties would you recommend? There are so many - I never know what to choose! I used to get heirlooms at the farmers' market in Berkeley, CA. They had a few kinds. Cherokee Purple was my favorite - very rich flavor, but I liked some of the red varieties too. I might like to try some green varieties for frying. I am in Ohio now. What would you recommend that would be similar to what I like, rich and delicious? How about some verities with interesting stories?

The possibilities are almost endless. We just planted some from Burpee. It was a variety package so we don't know what we we'll get. The Brandywine is a popular variety. I have some information on Heirloom Tomatoes and sources on our website at-

Hill Billy is a very tasty one. It's kind of striped yellow/red top to bottom.

Cherokee Purple I've grown for three years now. Took me awhile to recognize when its ready, since the color was odd.

Abe Lincolns - moderate size, very red, yummy flavor.

I'm in Ohio too.

I'd recommend some of the Amish ones. They've been passed down for generations.
