My husband and I decided to have barbecue with his niece and her husband. I started cooking some rice and my husband was doing the barbecue outside. I decided to sit down next to my husband's niece when she decides to freestfeed her 1 year old. She don't cover up with anything and my husband walks in and he saw her breest hanging out. He looks away but it still makes me feel mad and very uncomfortable. She most of done it like 3 times when we all were there. That night I was so mad that the next day I told my husband that I don't ever what anymore people coming over. What advise can somebody give me?

I don't have any problem with somebody breastfeeding her child but I do have a problem with her showing her breast at my husband and specially knowing that she doing it in front of her uncle.

I think that the woman whom was breast feeding was rude and inconsiderate. It just made other people uncomfortable. I nursed all of my children but always used a wrap of some sort or did it in private. If you know this person enough to actually tell her how you feel then do so otherwise I wouldn't advise inviting her over anytime soon.

IMHO, there is nothing disgusting about a breastfeeding mother. It is the best and most natural way to ensure the health and well-being of the baby and to develop a close mother/baby bond. It sounds to me that you are most uncomfortable with the fact that your husband saw the breastfeeding incident, and feel threatened by the fact that he saw your niece's tata. I don't see any indication that your niece was doing anything other than caring for her baby, but if the partial nudity offends or threatens you as much as it seems to, then you , as the host, had every right to ask her to find a more private place to nurse her child. If you ever ask her and her family over again, take her aside and let her know that, even though nursing the child seems natural to her in a public place, it makes you and your husband somewhat uncomfortable. Ask her to drape her upper anatomy with a blanket, or show her a private room in your house (like a spare bedroom) where she can take care of the baby's needs in private. If she loves you, she will understand.
And just for the record, as a former breast-feeding mom, I never thought of exposing my breast as a food source for my infant as an exhibitionistic act, or a sexual act. I just wanted to feed my baby.

I would talk to her about it. Tell her how you feel when she does it in front of people, especially your husband. She's at your house, offer her a room or tell her to at least cover up. I don't think telling your husband that you don't want anymore people over is a good idea. The problem is not with everyone else. That will not help the problem you have, and it will just create more for you & your husband.

I think you are totally over reacting. Breast feeding is a NATURAL thing to do between a mother and child. Is she leaving her breast hanging out when the child is not feeding? If not, where is the problem? However, if it is that uncomfortable for you then simply man up and tell her that you and your husband are uncomfortable and to please use some discretion in your presence. But be ready for the backlash.

I can understand you feeling uncomfortable, it is your home. I think you should have offered her use of a bedroom or office, you know, someplace out of sight. She should have at the very least covered herself with a blanket. I wouldn't ban all people from coming over, just ones like her!

First off ..breast feeding is very natural. What are you ashamed of?? So maybe she should had covered up a little..big deal! If it bothered YOU so bad , did you offer to get her a blanket or something to cover her up??? Personally you need to take a CHILL PILL!!

It is natural for your husband to have a first glance..thats mother nature.. human instinct. at least he turns away....
If you don't like it, then tell his neice... why should you get upset over your husband ? He did nothing wrong...

dont you know breastfeeding a child is more natural than many things that you do..thats what breasts were invented for.. the baby! not men....cool off and dont be so silly

Yeh....lighten up...what in the world could be so disgusting about a breast? My goodness is your husband allowed to see yours, or do they disgust you too?
