Their mind set is what causes this. They no longer care. Life isn't worth living for some unknown reason and they decide to take their life into their own hands. It is the biggest sin but by that point they just no longer care.

Suicide is not a sin. It is a death as a result of disease. Your question assumes that people make a choice to attempt or commit suicide. Of course there are some self-absorbed individuals that use suicide attempts to get attention. However, there are people who are truly ill and need help that attempt or commit suicide. I find it hard to believe that a rational thinking person commits suicide very often.

This question and the answers here indicate just how little understanding of, and compassion for, this problem there is out there. No wonder those who suffer from severe depression feel there is no where to turn when everyone else just thinks they need to "get over it."

i'd say when people are at the stage of committing suicide, they're not really worrying about exactly what sins they're breaking...seriously...the question asked i'm sure is a fair enough one and hypothetical...but it's kind-of a silly question.
if people are at the point of suicide...why are they? people who have true and strong faith, mostly don't even attempt suicide, because they are generally happy people, they have what they need.
people who attempt/commit suicide, are either people who have lost everything, the love of their life perhaps-that can be some people's whole world, or who have severe illnesses physical/mental, in no way believe in god, have a really hard life, or, in some rare cases, they're idiots and think that they are invincible.
but mostly when people get to the point where they just can't take it anymore. it's all fair and well to have faith and to adhere to the rules of the bible, but there just comes a point when...everything that used to make sense and used to matter, just doesn't anymore. everything loses its meaning and its place.
nothing matters, not even the bible.
so...yeah. interesting question though.

Excusing your self from a life-time of misery isn't a sin. helping somebody out is an act of humanitarian decency. The Bible would not exhibit an opinion in the problem. It speaks approximately homicide, which some human beings misconstrue and get in touch with suicide. in factor of fact, suicide is something that has been around in view that human beings have walked the face of the earth. If Jesus or all people else had a different view on it, He might have made point out of it on the least. and that i agree that not saving your self from homicide intentionally is suicide. i don't agree that suicide is erroneous or evil for the guy committing the act. It merely sucks for people who're left at the back of.

Clearly, anyone who seriously attempts or goes through with suicide does NOT "know" that. They may have heard it - probably several times - but simply did not accept it as being true.

While it is true that Near Death Experiences and hypnotic explorations into what we would call the "afterlife" DO support the premise that suicide is about the most serious mistake one can make, they do not specifically label it with the word "sin" and confine the concept to a single religious philosophy.

I believe there are a lot of folks who don't see it as one of the biggest sins. But just see the releif of not having to get through another day, bills, job, husband loss, kids out of control, they lose control over their own lives, and this is the only control they can, and do exercise.

Some do it for attention.....knowing they won't die, but needing the attention

Others are medicated, and for those unfortunate souls, I am not sure it was a 'biggest sin' for them.

Others are high/drunk and just don't care. the ultimate end of all ends.

We will never know the answer to this question entirely.

Is it really a sin to feel so forsaken by the world around you that you seek a way out? People attempt suicide because they feel that there is no reason to live. It's easier to die than to have to face the problems consuming you. What people who succeed never see though is all the people thet get hurt by their actions, the people that were there the whole time if they had only reached out to them.

According to the Word of God, there are no big sins and little sins. God hates all sin however, you are mistaken to think that suicide is a sin. The only sin that will keep you out of heaven is blaspheming the Holy Ghost really breaks down 'rejecting the Son of God - Jesus". Suicide will not keep you out of heaven.

MANY PEOPLE DONT REALLY KNOW THT SUICIDE IS A SIN. BUT FOR MANY OTHERS WHO KNOW THE REASON IS THE STATE OF MIND. THOSE PEOPLE WHO KNOW ITS A SIN YET COMMIT SUICIDE DO SO BECAUSE LIFE BECOMES TO PAINFUL FOR THEM(ATLEAST IN THIER MIND) TO BE ENDURED EVEN FOR ANOTHER DAY N ANOTHER MOMENT SO THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES AT THAT TIME SINCE THIER FOCUS IS TO GET RID OF THAT WHICH IS TROUBLING THEM NOW. THEY ARE TOO DISTURBED TO BE ABLE TO THINK PROPERLY. SIGH ITS USUALLY DEPRESSION THAT DRIVES THEM TO SUICIDE N U PROBABLY KNOW THT DEPRESSION IS A TERRIBLE DISEASE N MUCH DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. SOMETIMES PEOPLE COMMIT SUICIDE BCOZ THEY HAVE A FIT OF DEPRESSION. FOR EG WHEN SUCH AN ILL PERSON HAS A FIT HE MIGHT TAKE POISON IMMEDIATELY N THEN LATER(AFTER THE FIT IS OVER) HE REGRETS THAT HE HAS COMMITTED SUICIDE BUT BY THEN ITS TOO LATE. WELL A LOT OF THINGS LIKE THAT,I DONT THINK I KNOW THEM ALL....
no msngr id bt chek my mails almost everyday.
I AGREE WITH THE ABOVE PERSON WHO SAYS PEOPLE R LACKIN IN COMPASSION N UNDERSTANDING FOR SUCH PEOPLE THOUGH I HAVENT READ THE OTHER PARTS OF HIS ANSWER.

They are sick, they are depressed and feel that they have no one around. And life would be better off with out them. They don't see the world as we do, they can't see tomorrow. They feel, but only feel emptiness. They do care, they think that everyone would just be better off in life if they where no longer around.
The main thing is no one care really say why each person attempts to take his/her life, each reason is different.
