I think it came out in the 80's. Something or someone throws a basketball at some lady's face, i think it was Anne Ramsey but not too sure, and her face blows up. I remember seeing it as a kid and just want to see it again but can't remember the name of the movie.

...why, you are referring to director Wes Craven's 1986 post-Elm Street production of "Deadly Friend"; in the story, a brilliant young technical protege builds a robot instilled with artificial intellegence; the boy becomes amoured with the girl next door (Kirsty Swanson), who is being violently abused by her father. After the father inadvertantly kills his daughter, in a drunken fit of rage, the young genius steals the girls body from the morgue, and installs the A.I. chip from his robot, into the girl's brain. Now possessing the memory circuits of the robot, the girls comes back to life, and proceeds to inflict murderous vengeance against those who have hurt her, including her father, and including a nasty old lady (Anne Ramsey) across the street, who shoots passerbys, trespassing on her property (hence the notorious bloody basketball demise).

...long out of print on VHS tape, Warner Bros. is reportedly planning a DVD release later this year; stay tuned...
