Your IP address is being recognised as within the UK so Hotmail.com is probably redirecting you to .co.uk The only way round this is to sign up with a proxy server system in the USA and try again. Your IP will look like it is from the states then. An alternative if you want a .com address is Gmail or buy your own .com domain (you don't need a website) and purely use it for email. There are several domain resellers that will allow you to do this.

Crazy childs right, you would have to do it through selecting a different country when you sign up , new users in the UK will always be hotmail.co.uk however people that signed up about a year ago can still keep the .com.

To get a hotmail.com account, you must specify your country as USA. So, just signup for a new account and remember to select the country as USA.

By default other countries would be set to their country code. Ex.
UK = co.uk
Japan = co.jp
China = co.cn

You would have to created a account before they opened hotmail.co.uk which means if your in the uk you cant get a .com account.

**** when i read the question..i thought this guy must be stupid...bt reading the whole question...it aitn dat stupid at all.

Well u probably have read the other suggestions i.e. go to the USA hotmail site, or simply go to any site...but when they ask what country you stay ...pick United states...that should do the job. I done it 3 years back..not sure whether it still works.
