You could use a power point presentation on the 1930's and the Harlem Renaissance. That follows the ideas on concepts in the book the invisible man. There are man great pic's to use. the Harlem Renaissance was a very creative time in U.S musical history. sad to say the americans had to go to Paris to get a name and start before they would be given a chance here in the states. The ideas in the invisible man were very common in that time peroid.
