IT depends on how tall you are. At 5 feet, I would say yes, at 6' no.
I think you need to be at a healthy weight and then buy clothes that look good on you. DO not worry about the sizes other people are wearing.

Size 14 - 16 is not fat. The person who said that the upper limit of being curvy is size 12 is wrong! However is does depend on how toned you are...you will know if you are fat or not because you will have a lot of fat on your body, rather than just a larger structure. As long as you feel you look nice thats all that matters, never feel pressured to loose weight do it because you want to. Also just focus on being a healthy weight which is not denoted by your clothes size... work out your BMI for example as this is a much better measure. Take me for example if I went by clothes sizes I woud never buy clothes. I wear a size 12 but I am very curvy and according to sizing charts I should be a size 10 bust, size 8 waist and size 16 hips! But I have a BMI of 22.5 and I am toned and I like my figure so its all about being happy. Love the skin ur in!

It really depends on your height, but I am a size 16, and I don't consider myself fat at all. I may be a little overweight, and I am working on toning up a bit and eating healthily, but I really object to some of the people who have answered your question saying that that is fat. The important thing with clothes sizes is that you wear the correct size for you. As long as your clothes fit properly then you will look good - people get too hung up on the exact size, when what you look like in those size clothes changes from person to person. Height and body shape is different for everyone, so that one person wearing a size 14 top may look a lot different to someone else with a different body shape wearing the same size.
Anybody who tries to tell you that you are fat is both wrong, and extremely insensitive. They're probably totally insecure about their own bodies, and completely shallow to boot.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and most men absolutely love curves anyway! The only thing that matters is that you feel comfortable in your own skin, so that your inner confidence shines through whatever your body size.
14-16 is not fat, so don't let anyone tell you any different!
PS Fact - Marilyn Monroe was a Size 16.

After reading all the other responses, I will chime in now..
I am a 16! I am very sexy and as long as my husband is happy with me, so am I.
And just for the record, you can be a 16 and not be remotely fat. Some peoples bodies are structured differently. Marilyn Monroe was a 16 and she wasn't fat.
People need to get a grip and realize that the body doesn't make a person any better or any worse it is the personality that is protrayed by them that makes them the perosn they are!

Lord NO! If your weight is distributed evenly (since you state you have an hourglass figure, it seems that way) then you're fine and dandy!
I've been a size 6 and a size 16 and have never been called fat at either size. Size Zero is not only impossible to shop for, it's also not very pretty. They're talking about it because it's so unhealthy (for the most part).

I'm pleased to say the hour glass figure is coming back!! You're not fat at all at size 14-16 if you don't feel fat.
Be proud of your figure!

I don't know much about womens clothing size, but if your talking about a 1x-3x that to me is beautiful. When you look at pictures and paintings of a long time ago, artists always portrayed women with hour glass shapes. There are so many beautiful women out there now who are "big boned", "fluffy", or "pleasantly plump". Anna Nicole Smith was never a size zero, Camryn Manheim is BIG and BEATIFUL, Emme the full sized model is gorgeous. So I guess your size is sexy to alot of people. But is your attitude ok, and do you take good care of your body and looks. If so you are one SEXY MAMMA.
