are democrats angry at walmart giving cheap and basic medical care in its new clinics to people without health insurance? it would provide an alternative to socialized healthcare, and an alternative to giving more power to corrupt government officials.

The unions have convinced the sheep that Wal-Mart is evil, so everything that they do will be considered evil.

Wal-Mart could find a cure for cancer and unions would denounce it for causing mild headaches.

I have not read any criticism by Democrats of in-store clinics (that are now being offered in a variety of stores and drug stores, including Target, Walgreens, etc.).

These clinics provide limited diagnosis and treatment for non-emergency conditions such as the flu and athletes foot. Hardly an alternative to a comprehensive national healthcare plan (or "socialized healthcare," as you call it). These clinics do not provide emergency or on-going care, so if you need an operation or anti-depressants or birth control pills or neo-natal care or chemotherapy or etc., these clinics will not be able to meet your needs.

Any criticism surrounding in-store clinics is coming from doctors, who are of course protecting their source of income, but some of the criticism is well-founded. Such as, that many serious conditions present with common symptoms, and are difficult to diagnose in 15 minutes or less. And, these clinics promise a quick visit (within 15 minutes), which could lead to sloppy misdiagnoses.

Want to know why Health Care is so expensive?

The HMO's are sucking premiums and barely paying Doctors. Every Quarter I read how the health insurance companies are making record profits... all while denying coverage and / or undercutting Doctors and Hospitals!

I went to the Eye Doctor a few weeks ago... a real one, not some joint in the mall trying to sell glasses. My Co-pay for a "Specialist" visit is $35.00. The other day I get a statement in the mail from my insurance company outlining the Doctors charges. She charged $90 bucks to the HMO.... they denied it and only payed $15.00.

I have a friend that's married to a Doctor. She no longer does surgery because of how the HMO's under pay and because her liability insurance against malpractice was going to be upped to $200,000 per year!!!!!

Add to that all of the Illegal Aliens using emergency rooms as general practitioners and never paying a dime.

Socialized Medicine is already partly here .... And its costing us billions!

Why do neocraps always twist things around? Progressives are not mad at wallmart for giving much needed help by way of the low cost clinics, they just want walmart to raise thier lowest paid employees wages and benefits so all are on a level playing field. It is a wonderful service for the least able among us to get necessary help. Why would you think Democrats would view this as a detriment? Democrats have been pushing for health care for all. How many Repubicans have been on board for health care reform? The power given to government officials is supposed to be for the good of the people, not for the corporations to run roughshod over its citizens. Unlike the Neocon agenda, I want our government to be of, by, and for the people.

im a democrat and i think this a good thing for it helps our true cause of providing health care to all, not just some. However, as another poster stated, this is nothing new, such clinics are widespread throughout the nation and are free, Wal-Mart charges

Wal-Mart still sux........i dont care what unions say, it is a despicable business and will destroy American character and business along with its bigbox counterparts

It proves that you can provide cheap healthcare, without the government getting involved. That is not good for the Democrats, especially if it is successful. That would mean their key talking point of socialist medicine would be null and void. The Democrats are afraid today.
