Can you give me some good reason why most Americans do not vote?

One of the best reasons I've heard is this - (although apathy probably has a great impact also).... Many Americans don't vote because they don't see an "urgency" in it. In a way, that's a good thing. We have such a great system of checks and balances in our government, that no party, getting power, can make immediate, massive changes - so people aren't "too worried" about big changes. I look at it like this - no matter who gets elected, NOBODY is going to get dragged out in the street and executed. In some countries, people risk their lives to vote - but what we don't recognize is that they are also risking their lives to not vote.

Although nothing in this country can get "straightened out" real fast, we also have the safety that things can't get all messed up real fast either.

We can thank the framers of the constitution for this - we have the greatest constitution ever written. (and the oldest one in use today)
