Does anyone know where i can find some type of child support agreement form online? One that basically just states the amount of support we have agreed on and the visitation? We are doing this out of the courts to try to save money and we will both sign and have it notarized.. but i cant seem to find anything.. i just need something simple... or if anyone can mayb just tell me how to word it and i can type it up myself...

Keeping it out of the courts is setting yourself up for enormous problems later.

You need a Decree of Paternity and Support, which is issued by a court of competent jurisdiction. Child support is usually calculated according to your state's guidelines, and every state does them somewhat differently.

The reason you need to have this done by the courts is to make sure it can be enforced later. If one of the parties gets cold feet, and/or doesn't want to pay, etc, without a court order, you are essentially stuck, and then you are right back where you are now.

It would be inappropriate for me or any other attorney to "just tell you how to word it", because that could constitute the unauthorized practice of law.

You need to consult an attorney licensed in your state. It need not be all that expensive to have this done if everyone agrees on the paternity and the child support is straight math. For a referral to an attorney, contact your local or state bar association.

Try this one: It's from the court system of the State of Tennessee but will give you a great place to start.

You do NOT want to keep it out of court. After all, that's why you're typing up the form, right? Unless you have a Court Ordered Divorce, you will still be legally married. There can be no agreement easily recognized between married persons living apart. HOWEVER, if you go to court, file the papers yourself and include the Parenting Plan below, you can be assured of an easy (and fairly inexpensive) divorce.

You can petition the court without a lawyer yourself and ask the judge to o.k. what you've decided. You will have to pay court costs which is not much. It needs to be done in court to make it legal and to save problems later on. Go to your state's division of child support website for rules & regulations.
