Well it depends what you are loooking for I guess

Supermarkets and Large Food chains:
Tesco (pretty much the monopoly|). Sainsbury's, Asda (which is part of Wall Mart), Morrisons, Waitrose, Safeway and others

Department stores and multi-purpose retailers
John Lewis. Fenwick (pronounced Fennick), Marks and Spencers, Selfridges, in London we of course have Harrods, British Home stores (Bhs), and Debenhams

On Our high streets, its pretty much the same as you have really, we have Gap, and H&M. We also have clothing stores such as Burton (mens only), River Island, Topshop/Topman, Republic and so on,

Loads I have forgotten about but I think thats an adequete list

The big food shops are called supermarkets, and the big names fit into different price categories;
Tesco's, Sainsburys - Middle price
Marks & Spencers, Waitrose - Most expensive
Asda, Morrisons - Cheapest

Regular shops such as clothes shops are; House of Fraser, John Lewis, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer (do clothes and homeware too), Fenwicks, Selfridges, Harrods,

Shops in shopping centres; Elvi, Oasis, WH Smith, Waterstones, Borders, Clinton Cards, HMV

qube, river island, marks and spencer, newlook. BHS, virgin records, woolworths, asda, somerfeild, tesco, and loads of others and the good thing about them is our towns are set out with high streets so you can park your car and walk about visiting each store without having to drive miles.
