Yes! And I always end up thinking of sky, blue sky - or clouds!!
Nothing is a difficult thing to imagine - nothing means, void. A void is a vaccuum or a blank space - but if you replace void with any alternative word it still becomes a something - I find it better to simply try and 'clear my thoughts' Then I still think of sky lol !!

I've tried to think about nothing, but I always think of a brick wall.

It reminds me of the last scene in Ghostbusters where they 'pick the demon' as the Stay Puffed Marshmellow man. Ray tried to think of nothing, but then "it just popped in there."

I don't know how you could think of actually nothing. You'd be dead. Because if you try to think about nothing you ultimately think about a really boring object, or black. And black isn't 'nothing', it's the opposite of white, it's the absence of colour. That doesn't make it 'nothing'.

Personally I have tried to have a mental void, but it is indeed difficult to let go of thoughts. I have read that it is important to not beat oneself up if a random thought pops in. It happened to me... drifting off, letting go then all of a sudden the written word CHICKEN WING showed up in my mind like a darned billboard. Ah, well. So mote it be!

You brain is constantly going even if you don't want to think about anything chances are your subconscience is steadily working. Off topic but might of interest there is a movie that is called "Nothing" it's pretty cool I recommand it if you like independent movies.

It really is a type of paradox. Thinking about nothing is actually thinking about something. That something being nothing. The brain is not truly design to actually think about nothing. Philosophically speaking, what is nothing? Once you start describing it technically it becomes something.

It's impossible and I'll tell you why: If you're TRYING not to think about anything, then you're thinking about trying. It's a viscous cycle, really.
