You could have a bad kick for a lot of reasons. First make sure that you have good ankle flexibility. In addition, I would do some kicking specific drills after practice in addition to your practice. Some ideas include kicking with fins, vertical kick with your arms in the air, and even kicking with tennis shoes. In college we often used two types of fins. Reg. cheep fins. In addition, I believed that zoomers (type of fin) helped me a lot. I was a distance freestyler, but I did not have a very strong kick that could easily transition into more mid-distance races. Zoomers made me focus more on my technique. Best of luck with your season.

You can do more than just practice, and don't give up. Go to a local sporting goods store, and purchase a pair of fins. The type to get will be heel enclosed, no straps. They shouldn't be more than $20. Do not spend a lot on gimmick fins, or expensive dive fins. Wear these fins for extensive freestyle or dolphin kick sets. You should feel your ligaments and tendons stretching out. The increased resisitance from the fins will cause this to occur. the more flexible you ankles get, the better your kick will get. The fins will also help buid strength in your legs. Hang in there, and don't give up, it takes time.

dolphin kick with a bord is realy hard, insted most swimrs do it on their backs. u can do breast stroke kick on ur bak 2, but if your not goin anywher, chek that you r kickin out to the side as quickly as possible and gliding once your ankles come together. in front crawl, small, fast kicks are a lot betr than long, slow ones. make sure your toes ar pointed and your legs are straight. u could buy fins/flippers, they help a lot but r quite expensive. also, dont lean all ovr ur board but hold it at the ends furtherst away from you. hope this helps.

Have someone who knows their stuff evaluate your technique. Maybe you need to relax your ankles and feet, maybe you're using your knees too much, maybe you're not using your knees enough, it could be a million things. Your best bet is using fins like the dude above me suggested and having a knowledgeable person examine your kick and make reocmmendations. A swim coach or instructor or fellow swimmer would be more than willing to help you out I am sure ( =
Good luck!
