I am an ex-Human Resources Manager and I stopped working to be home with my son. I am interested in developing a small business. Here's where I'd like your advice...

I would like to cater my business to help the EMPLOYEES of workplaces, not the employer.

The cost of the advertisement I want to pursue is an insert and I have a full page to work with. It's very expensive, so I'm ready to sponge up ideas.

I don't want my little pursuit to become known by the community as some "evil" company that helps out the troublemaker employees, because that is not my intent. I really want to help advise employees of their rights, particularly when they are being violated...as I have seen as an HR Manager.

See my dilemna? Any thoughts on how to delicately approach this new marketing initiative without offending or putting question marks in the minds of local employers?

Just call the business a "career counseling center". This should not offend anyone and should serve the employees well.

Since employers are not your target market, don't worry so much about stepping on their toes.

List the services you will provide. Perhaps start off by asking -- Has this happened to you? We can help.

Be straightforward. You're going to be hired by employees, right? Talk to them and their concerns.

Yes, I do it, but not every time and not the second I get an email back from someone who may not be as computer-savvy as me perhaps. I choose my moment, and try to make the new subject as appropriate and interesting as I can, just in case the recipient should actualy pay attention to such detail.

Contact unions? Employment lawyers? This sounds like an administrative position...
