Polls. Politicians are windsocks, who change their allegiances as fast as the fickle public changes their moods.
Bush is political poison now. Reagan is a hero to the GOP regulars, and those running for their nomination are trying to appear like the next Reagan.
Given the corruption, lies, incompetence, and other well-documented failures of the Bush administration, the only question remaining for history to answer is "what the hell were they thinking?"

Its his 28% approval rating. And reagan was not the greatest president. Seems the repubs forgot the iran contra affair where he traded arms to the terrorists that we are fighting today.

No doubt about it...."it's the war, stupid". They see the results of last year's elections and don't want any part of it.
If only a true well-known conservative (maybe Fred Thompson) would enter the race, I think that more excitement would come from the conservatives and the GOP.
But, hey, that's my $.02 and I could be wrong...

Because Mr. Bush has given an excellent accounting of what "conservatism" is all about--imposing 19th century colonialism around the world, cutting taxes for the rich, encouraging Big Business to ship jobs overseas, cutting environmental and work safety rules, bankrupting the economy. Why would anyone want to associate themselves with a record like that?

Lets see Bush approval rateings around 30% Need 50% to win election,, sounds like a good plan to me. The real question is why do the Democrats continue to insult and degrade President Bush.. THEY WILL NOT BE RUNNING AGINST PRESIDENT BUSH!!!
Mark my words, when the Democrats lose the Election next year it will be because their cannidates spent all their time attacking the President and not defineing their positions or attacking the GOP contenders.

No one will be running against President Bush. And, since Reagan was the greatest President in the US's modern history, why shouldn't the candidates want to be like him.

It's called intelligence - when you see that a policy or its maker is a complete failure, you look for something that works. Then there are lunatics - repeatedly supporting the same idiot and expecting different results... some 28% of those, and sinking...
