circle which radiates out from the circle about a half inch all the way around. What does that sound like to you?

It sounds like you have an infected hair follicle. Be careful... on some folks these turn into boils (eugh... just that word is nasty). It could also be a bug bite (did spider bite you when you weren't looking? *grin*)

Regardless, you can treat it with a warm/hot cloth... and clean well (once! only once!) with hydrogen peroxide. (Peroxide is not good to use on an extended basis... it does more harm than good to the surrounding skin). Then... keep it dry. If it gets bigger, or starts to hurt more, get someone with medical knowledge to have a look at it.

Ringworm, or a spider bite. Better get that checked out, seriously!
