i would say timmy, if only because i am a big duncan fan since his late wake forest days, but it could just as easily be "the admiral". i believe tim has a higher basketball IQ and excellent fundamentals to boot while david robinson may have had (arguably) the best body in all of sports.
as far as your question goes, duncan has mostly played the power forward position since coming into the NBA while robinson played almost entirely at center. it has only been with the departure of the likes of robinson and nesterovic this season that he has been the man in the middle.
tell you what, i'd take anyone of the two to build a franchise around. except for the year that david was injured, which allowed them to take duncan, the spurs have not had a bad season in the past couple of decades.

Yea They are both good players.
David Robinson upon entering the NBA in the mid to late 80's was the prototype 7ft player that the NBA is now full of from Europe. He was ripped fresh from 2 years of Navy service, and hadnt played in 2 full years before his rookie season. David could run the floor and dunk like Vince Carter, David could run the floor and distribute the ball better than most point guards, he could shoot from the High post and the Low Post, Rebound, Block Shots, and dominate.
Then he tore up that knee and the Spurs drafted Tim Duncan. Tim dominated his rookie year while dave watched the kid work from the sidelines. A year later dave comes back and takes a backseat to Tim. Dave gets 2 titles before retiring from basketball. David being "humble" enough to realize after many years that Tim would enable/help him win a title makes him, in my opinion, better than not just Tim but many people that have, and still are, playing the game!
"War The Admiral & The Big Fundamental!"
But Dave was in a class by himself!

F**k class and all that jazz Duncan is a better player. Robinson was great and one of the best but Duncan I think is better. The combination of the two was needed to offset O'Neal and win those titles but they have a chance this year now that the Heat got complacent.

David Robinson's a legend, but I believe Tim Duncan will soon be one, too. Plus, Tim Duncan has championship rings.
Still, I think it's unfair to answer "David Robinson" or "Tim Duncan". Give 'em both credit.

Easy, Tim Duncan. David Robinson is the most physically gifted basketball player that I ever seen. But he really didn't care much for being the greatest and I respect him for his views. he cared far more about family and people than sports. Tim is a super guy as well. He puts more work into the game than Dave ever did in his career. I hate to choose because they are both so classy. Basketball was Dave's platform to do great things for mankind and he did it well. Tim is proving that you can be a nice guy and still dominate the game.

Although I love Timmy, I feel that David Robinson is a legend and and has to be put in a category all by himself. Not only was he a great leader for his team but he was, and still is, a great leader and role model for all the children of San Antonio. So I don't know if you can say David is better then Tim, but he is definitely someone who will be remembered as a one of the greatest players for years and years to come.

If you watched the finals in 99 & 03 you can plainly see Duncan is superior, Robinson was already old and didn't do all that much. The finals MVP's should speak for themselves.

as much as I choose Robinson, i could ought to declare Duncan is extra useful. Robinson is definitely certainly one of the suitable 50 gamers of all time, yet Duncan will in all probability be remembered by fact the suited skill earlier to all time, beating out Moses and Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, and all the different greats
