They say that there is a shortage of gas, and that is why it is so expensive. Bull!!! I find it hard to believe that when people are traveling (summer and winter breaks, Spring Break, holidays, etc.) gas prices go up and otherwise, it stays the same. Funny that we have a "shortage" when it's traveling season...no?

Yes they do, and unfortunately, most of us are!

What other reason could there be for people contining to buy gas-guzzling SUVs?

Remember the price will go up
then drop a few cents then up then drop a few cents

same pattern

and thus the gas price stays high
and everyone is comfortable with it

complaining yes - but we buy it

where else can you go

we will not all park the cars we drive forever

so we pay pay and the gov and oil companies

get paid more and more income and taxes

no one wants to push alternative fuels

or electric cars

yes both can be done its proven

yet when will we all YELL NON STOP to get them

into the market place

its too late when we are paying $5-$10 per gallon

Why is there always an outrage over gas prices. I bet everyone pays no attention to escalating costs of other items, and says nothing about it. But OMG Gas Prices. Really, let's just say that your car has a 15-gallon tank. That means that for every ten cents that gas goes "up", it costs you a whole extra $1.50 to fill your tank. Really, is that killing you? $1.50. Think of everything you buy in a week, now take out an item that costs $1.50, is that a 20 oz coke? A pack of gum. Half a pack of cigarettes!?

Really, get over it.

The problem is not that they think we are dumb, I think they don’t have a rational good answer so they give the old standby. After reading on the subject, I suspect that there are three basic ingredients in the price minus the various taxes and stuff:

Cost to the refiner of the crude – this is subject to vast speculation (normally quoted in dollars per barrel delivered) – this is where the speculator and producer make money

Cost to refine and deliver the product – this is somewhat fixed throughout a manufacturing cycle – this varies by who refines it and how much it costs to deliver – this is where “Big Oil” makes their money (if you believe they make it)

Cost to the consumer – this is where independent stations and large wholesalers make their money. This again is somewhat constant and over the last several weeks has fluctuated only a few cents per gallon.

I suggest to you most of the rise and fall of the cost of gasoline at the pump is affected most in the first (Cost to the refiner)

We have gasoline at $2 a gallon. If that doesn't drive demand, I don't know what will. -Jennifer Granholm

Yes, we think you are that dumb. You showed your lack of knowledge about the natural law of supply and demand. When more people demand something, such a gasoline for spring break and vacation, and the supply is constant it is natural for the price to increase. The supply can not be increased because no new refinery has been built in this country for 30 years.

They are just telling us something to keep us quiet while they take all of our money. As bad as it is to say, they have us right where they want us. They know that for the most part we cant live without them. Honestly, how many people would go out and buy an electric car if they could? I know that I would not and most everyone that I know would not either. You pay for the life that you live.

Actually, we are that dumb.

The price is fixed to maximize profit. The government will do nothing because the oil companies supplied the money for all of the political campaigns for those in congress.

We let it happen.

That's why we are dumb.

Yes, they think we're that dumb. But why shouldn't they? We've gone along with their BS for years. Why would they expect us to wake up now?
