Most large companies (over 50 employees) do offer annual preformance evaluations. Yes, if you are a ood employee, do your job well, go out of your way to help clients and things like that, then yes you are entitled to a pay raise. However if you don't do your job, talk back to management, treat clients rudely, call out alot and stuff then no, you aren't entitled to a raise. Actually NO ONE is ENTITLed to a pay raise, you earn it and it isoffered if necessary and the company has the funds to give it.

No. At an annual revue a good HR dept and manager will define key improvement areas and key performance areas for the employee. If they are not met by the next revue it's unlikely a payrise would be forthcoming.

100% agree with you on this one, althought in my 2 Part time Jobs there has been an increas in pay once every year. In one job the Big Managers take a vote on it and in my other Job i get a pay rise automatically. It's good to know these sorts of things.. I guess it also depends on what type of industry you work it, have a chat with your line Manager see if there is anything expected. A Pay rise is not only beneficial to you but i also feel it's motivational.

No, I do not think they should be entitled to one. They should be provided opportunities to earn one, however, based upon a performance evaluation. Many companies will give their employees a "cost of living" increase, but as far as performance related increases, I feel that they should be earned.

erm yeah, else if you as the employer dont give them a pay rise pretty soon they'll be earning less than the minimum wage and you'll end up paying more in fines for not complying with that piece of legislation than by giving them the 3%pay rise

if the employee has done a good job completing their assigned tasks, yes. we get an annual COLA raise, but our boss doesn't believe in asking for raises for us and has only done it once in the ten years I've been here. luckily, there are other perks.
