Having an extended family (and being able to stand them...) is very beneficial!
1. Wisdom. Your grandparents have been through many of the trials and tribulations that you are going through, and can give you guidance.
2. Child rearing. Your family can help you take care of the wee ones.
3. Genetics. You are related to these people, so if they pass on their genes, in a way that is similar to you passing on your genes.
And what would life be like without a crazy drunken uncle?

The benefits of having more support around you (babysitting), the ability to have different generational points of view and the overall close knit family. If you have the extended family and they all can get along under one roof then you're lucky.

I think you should have asked the pros and cons .
An extended family can give you more contacts if their not busy pushing their own agenda which they probably are .
The disadvantage ids that they will be calling on you for help constantly so you cannot get on with things . And that will hold you up .
I've always been independent I don't think people help and you have to be very resilient not to get used up yourself , Be live me its an art I've mastered
