I'm sorry. I know you feel awful. If he was listless or limp, he would need to be seen, but the fact that he was crying is actually good. Lots and lots of snuggles.....
I'm sure it happens to everyone. Once I was trying to get my oldest (now 11) into a front carrier to bring her out on some errands (I was walking in the cold and snow and wanted her nestled under my jacket). It was the first time I was trying to get her in the carrier and wasn't sure what I was doing. I worked this way and that trying to get her in there - and accidently dropped her. I felt so awful. I dropped on the floor, scooped her up and snuggled for who knows how long. Most parents have a story - and we all felt just as awful. (((hugs)))

Babies bounce. It sound he OK from what you say. You can play with him and gently work an arm or leg and see if he cry, this would indicate a cracked bone. I have never seen a baby seriously hurt from a bed fall, though we must assume they can be hurt. But, normally if something wrong they will cry when the hurt area is moved or touched.

if you have any concerns then take him to the doctor. if he hit his head he could have a closed head injury that you wouldn't be aware of just by looking at him. this is probably unlikely though.
my guess is that this is your first baby. so now you know that you have to watch your kids 24/7 when they're that young. don't feel too bad though. my sister fractured her arm when she was 2 because my dad wasn't watching her and she fell out of the high chair in the kitchen.

If he seems all right I would just call my doctor. Tell her what happened and she'll tell you what to do. My son did the same thing at about six months and my doctor had me watch for certain signs. Just give him a big hug and lots of cuddles. It probably scared him more than hurt him.

yes it happened to me when my daughter was only 2 months old...I had her on the bed with me and she was taking a nap so I dozed off too...well next thing I knew I heard a thud and she screamed, they say that if they are alert and crying most likely they are fine, but I felt horrible, I take it this is your first baby...well you might want to call your doctor just to let them know but most of the time a little snuggling is all they need.

You should take him regardless. Their little brains can be bruised. Even if he is not physically hurt from the ordeal, what if he falls again in the future and a medical exam reveals he has been hurt before? You could be under scrutiny for child abuse. Just a thought.

I know you must feel bad, but just to be on the safe side I would probably take him in. Or call the doctor & see what they say. Good luck

Signs you should seek medical attention are :
1. he's not breathing
2. he's bleeding uncontrollably
3. he's still crying an hour later
4. he has a bone sticking out of his skin.
Babies are pretty tough, I'm sure he's okay. Most people drop their kid atleast once or thrice.

This happened to my friend when her baby was 2 months! She called me crying..I know how bad you feel. Her baby was fine. Babies are pretty tough(I know we all worry cause they just look so darn fragile!!) Bottom line, you know your baby...If he is acting different go ahead and take him..or just call his doctor. Good luck I know how scary things like this can be!!
