When I was young it seemed that life was so wonderful. . .
A miracle. . .. oh it was beautiful, magical
And all the birds in the trees, they'd be singing so happily.. . .
Joyfully. .. playfully watching me

But they sent me away to teach me how to be sensible. . .
Logical. . . Responsible, Practical
And they showed me a world where I could be so dependable
Clinical. . .Intellectual, Cynical

There are times. . . when all the worlds asleep
the questions run so deep.. . for such a sim-ple man
Won't you please. . . please tell me what we've learned
I know it sounds absurd . . .. Please tell me who I am

Now watch what you say. . or they'll be calling you a Radical. . . A Liberal.. . fanatical, criminal
Won't you sign up your name , we'd like to feel you're acceptable. .. . respectable.. . presentable, a vegetable

At night.. when all the worlds asleep.. . the questions run so deep. .for such a sim-ple man. .. . . . . .. .. .

Isn't this really all part of growing-up ? Logical ?

Paul calls me Chico and Nitebreed thinks I was sent away for tutelege paid for by my poor, always broke parents . Just beautiful !! BTW Nitebreed, I did go to a Catholic High School, but I paid my own tuition, bought my own books, paid rent to live at home starting in sophomore year, and had a full-time job since freshman year. . . . oh, and I did find time to be a 4 year letterman on our Soccer team, and regularly hung-out with my friends till wee hours of the evening . Graduated with honors too and lost the 'dream world' of liberalism in about Junior year . I still am a dreamer, but understand that practicality comes first !!

For some, yes...growing up means abandoning the dreams of youth, dreams of a better world - a wondrous, magical, beautiful world. Grow up, get a job, be responsible. But that doesn't necessarily mean that you have to follow status quo - you don't have to become cynical and so-called logical. The world still needs dreamers, just as it needs drones. You just have to decide - for yourself - which one you want to be. Imagine what kind of world we would live in if people didn't dare to dream....

Man I've been saying the same thing for years.

I've always voted conservative since my first election. However I was VERY socially liberal when I was younger. The only reason I voted conservative is I've always been pro military. I was in the military in the 80's, so I know how Reagan treated us. We had two, sometimes three of everything compared to the 70's when the military barely had one of anything.

But like so many before me have said. Then you grow up, have kids, buy a house and two cars and pay lots and lots of taxes, as well as gain a more realistic view of the world, and all Liberalism flew right out the window.

After all, who in their right mind that was under 25 or 30 wasn't a liberal at some time in their life. What I don't get is the old ones that are still clinging to the 60's. Here's a few.

Yes, that's a good way to put it, "really all part of growing up", but I don't know how logical it is.
I've found that it really doesn't matter what party you register as or subscribe to. Liberal or conservative, democrat or republican. There are republicans that are very liberal and even radical, and democrats that are very wealthy and conservative. All those "liberals" out there also have to be just as sensible, logical and responsible as you, otherwise, you wouldn't be hearing so much from them. Wake up people, and start working together. Don't ever lose the wonder of your youth, or you'll find that in your conservatism, you've become nothing more than an old forgotten dinosaur, ready for extiction, a modern day Scrooge, if you will.

When you are young the world is all Black and White, but as we age we start to see shades of grey. Thats where peope differ.
But the one thing about both political parties is they still see some topics as black and white, and they differ on the shades of grey.
Take Abortion:
Extreme Liberal: All abortion should be allowed
Extreme Conservative: No abortion should be allowed
Liberal Conservative: Some abortion if rape or med. necessary
You have 2 parties and 3 different views. Black, white and grey.
I will admit I have gotten more conservative about most things as I age. Mostly since having children.
But I do still keep my liberal edge on a lot of things.
I hope I never lose that.
Both parties have good and bad points, when we only see things as black and white, that just makes you blind.

Oh the good old days...life was great...no responsibility (except that job to keep that POS car running because Daddy said 'you want a car? GET A JOB!')....staying out late...partying till the wee hours of the AM!

Man do I miss that...but then 'adulthood' kicked in...career, financed car, bills, bills, bills, family....and if I remember correctly...in THAT order!

Then all at once...I realized......

"I heard it was you
Talkin' 'bout a world
Where all is free
It just couldn't be
And only a fool would say that "

Great song. So now it's "Liberal bed-wetting moon-bats"? Hey, gee thanks. I find the mudslinging from the right quite comical. What will they think of next? Not everyone is willing to throw out all of their Liberal ideals in the name of being a cynical, respectable, acceptable, dependable..... "adult". Some of us, take care to remember beautiful, joyful, magical things in the world that make life worth living in the first place.

When I was young I called myself a Liberal, because I thought Liberals were for the "Little Guy".

I thought Liberal meant that you believed in doing what was right. Protecting the rights of others. Having compassion for the week, and disenfranchised.

Then I discovered that they believe in Abortion, Hate Christ Jesus, and Christians. I saw Homosexuals at the '78 Communist Party Convention in San Fagcisco parading around dressed as Mary, and Jesus. Heard Communists talking about how evil Christians are, and promising to protect a woman's"right" to an Abortion.

That year I realized that I was not a Liberal, and changed my Party Affiliation to Republican. Now, almost 30 Years later, I fear the Republicans are moving closer to what the Communists were in '78.
Be Blessed in Christ Jesus !
