Nope she's American. She had a voice coach.

It was quite good in the first Bridget Jones but in the second one her accent was way over the top and sounded too forced. She is from Texas which has a strong American accent so the fact she could pull it off at all shows how talented she is.

It's not authentic because Renee was born in the United States. Americans and Canadians can pull off really convincing British accents either through self-training, influence, or in Renee's case, a vocal coach.
I think if they wanted authentic, they should've gotten Sophia Myles (she was Lady Penelope in the Thunderbirds movie, and I think she's British,) or Geri "Ginger Spice" Halliwell.

It was ok but it sounded like someone who was not posh, putting on a posh accent. If you listen to Bridget Jones' mother's accent and Colin Firth's accent and compare them to Bridgets, you can tell that their accents are more 'polished'. It was a good try by Rene but because I knew when watching the film she was really American I couldn't really believe the character. Her accent didn't match that of her family.

It was quite good - she managed to keep if constant through-out the film. My only gripe would be that her accent, or rather her pronunciation, was a bit posh or fake-posh. Still it was better than my American accent which wanders across several states before turning distinctly Welsh!

I thought it was a little bit too "posh" (which I know is the wrong word, but you get what I mean) but I think it was believable and very well done for an american! Better than that of Don Cheadle in Ocean's 11!

I'm English and I knew she was American but I still thought her accent was very good. Normally Americans do a really posh English accent, so I thought hers was quite realistic.

No it's really terrible. Nobody from England speaks like that.
Obviously there have been worse attempts by American actors before to do the English accent but most fail miserably. Renee does a little better but it's still really unconvincing.

If it was authentic then she would be English, but she's not so no.
If you meant did it sound realistic then yes. It was ok, which is probably why she did so well as Beatrix Potter.

No not really, her own accent slipped out all over the place.
But at least it wasn't as bad as Mel Gibson pretending to be Scottish when he starred in Braveheart - now that was terrible.
