A tradesman has taken my money and disapeared, help?

Question

Do you know of a chat room to find other people who have been impacted by the same tradesperson? This is a flooring tradesman in Melbourne?

We have been left high and dry but the guy is a ghost ie false address, I believe company is unregistered, no ACN etc

I want to prosecute him and stop him from doing the same to others but I cannot find him. He has basically stolen money from us.

Sorry to hear about your problem. This is commonplace. Contractors (actually scam artists) of all types prey on people by offering low prices and always have a great reason they can do the job cheaper. The actual reason is that they never plan on doing the work. Checking references from past customers can help stop this. Always check the contractor before writing the check.

Well unfortunatly I have to say shame on you for giving him your money, I would call the BBB, go to the town hall, call different floor suppliers to try to get his contact, put a stop payment on check, put a mechanics lien on his place, call at attorney
