There could be a couple of reasons.

The ones who are ranting about socialism here believe themselves to be part of the Vanguard of the Elite, you know the ruling class, they get to keep their wealth and live luxurious lifestyles on your money. They know if they left they would not be the ruling elite and would just be another subject of a totalitarian government.

The others, the useful idiots, being ignorant of the facts, do not know what their role will be in a socialist government, they would be the slaves assuming they survived the re-education.

Lenin did this quite well and the socialists in congress are following his plan almost to the letter.

AMerica had better wake up before the revolution begins because once it starts turning it back will be most difficult. Already the commies in congress are squeezing your first amendment rights, the law that states I have to give equal time to the other side on my blog. bull crap ain't gonna happen.

The useful idiots have been brainwashed by television and the MSM and I do not know how to stop it or even correct it. Maybe while the commies here are trying to take control of our country and are not paying attention a horrific terrorist event will stop the takeover. YOu would think they are farsighted enough to know that an attack on AMerican soil will be judged to be their fault and it will unite America for some period of time.

We must raise AMericas awareness to this threat to our freedoms, our country.

Actually, the country is about freedom and rights. It is a capitalistic society, but that's not set by law.

Since you seem to have a problem with the core principles of this country - the right to dissent, speak out and to petition the government for change, shouldn't you be moving to a place that doesn't allow that?

Because it's very expensive to live in most of those places. They may have free health care (paid for and provided by the government at tax payer expense) but it's not worth it to immigrate to a place where you have to pay 40% in taxes so they can "spread the wealth" and support royal families.

Patriotism is the action that rocks the boat. Rosa Parks was a patriotic woman. Patriotism is not the lump in the throat that develops when the flag goes by and the jets fly overhead when the national anthem is being played. Patriotism is not, "America - love it or leave it." Rather, it is, "America - change it or lose it." Emma Goldman wrote,

We Americans claim to be a peace-loving people. We hate bloodshed; we are opposed to violence. Yet we go into spasms of joy over the possibility of projecting dynamite bombs from flying machines upon helpless citizens. We are ready to hang, electrocute, or lynch anyone, who, from economic necessity, will risk his own life in the attempt upon that of some industrial magnate. Yet our hearts swell with pride at the thought that America is becoming the most powerful nation on earth, and that it will eventually plant her iron foot on the necks of all other nations.

In the Persian Gulf War of 1991 most Americans felt it patriotic to display a yellow ribbon in support of the war. A few refused and protested and in turn were ostracized by their friends, family and coworkers. Today, we know that our government lied about many aspects of that war including the cause of Gulf War syndrome which has adversely affected the lives of tens of thousands of our soldiers and killed many more in Iraq. Was the war necessary?

Today, on an almost daily basis, people, mostly children are dying in Iraq. Is it patriotic to let that happen? Is it patriotic to blame a dictator whom we put into power in the first place and supported for many years without taking responsibility? I don’t think so. Patriotism is saying "no" to the patriots who manipulate us with the lump in our throats and the institutionalized numbness to death toll figures and statistics.

With the defeat of Royal and the election of Sarkosy, Europe is finally shucking socialism. As usual, the whole world is moving to the Right and the socialists are trying to take the USA farther to the left. I swear, if it was raining soup, the leftys would be handing out forks.

You understand that the definition of a capitalist is a socialist who has learned to rip off the taxpayers. A rich capitalist is one who tries to make you believe in the system. A poor capitalist is a fool.

Yeah, a lot of people should just leave—the far-right theocrats, the Bush-supporting minority, the Iraq war-supporting minority, the anti-choice crowd, the anti-dissent crowd and any other Americans whom I don’t agree with. They should all just leave and let us sensible people run the country. These right-wing ideologues are just a drain on society and on the economy.
