My wife conceived last wednesday which makes one week from now. We did a preganancy test and found out that she s carrying. At the moment we would not like to have a child. So what is the best way to avoid the birth. It would be very much appreciated if someone can help us with the apt info.

Thank You,

Your wife can go to her gynecologist and have a D&C. There are also drugs available for this procedure but only her doctor can prescribe them.
I know this can't be easy for you but it's your decision and yours alone.
Good luck to you both.

How do you know that's when she conceived? Because you hadn't had sex for a month or so before that? Some women ovulate during or right after their period so having had a period and then having sex during or right after could have gotten her pregnant. Usually by the time you can detect the pregnancy with a pregnancy test, she's 2 weeks farther along than you think she is because the sperm meets the egg in the fallopian tube where it starts to divide before travelling down the tube to implant in the uterus at which time the human growth hormone can be detected.

If you don't want to have a baby right now, go see her gynecologist right away. They'll do an ultrasound to see how far along she is, and according to that they'll decide whether it's early enough for the medical abortion (pills) or if she needs a surgical abortion (dilation of the cervix and suctioning/scraping of the uterus).

Make sure it's really what you both want. It's hard to describe the emotions that a woman goes through after having an abortion even when she didn't want a child. Make sure she has emotional support before, during and after. And don't wait, if this is really what you want to do.

Oh....if you don't want kids it's a whole lot easier and cheaper to use a condom and birth control pills (not to mention a LOT less painful) than it is to have an abortion.

If she conceived last wednesday and isn't due for a period for a few days...then you may not have to worry at all. A lot of early pregnancies end in miscarriage that women don't even realise they are having, they just think they got their period. I lost 2 babies recently at 5 weeks and the doctor said that this often happens, as technology is so advanced and pregnancy tests are so sensitive these days, women are finding out they are pregnant earlier and earlier but that up to 75% of these pregnancies end in miscarriage. That is why it is best to wait until missing a period before testing!
If however, it looks like the pregnancy is going to continue, see your doctor and make arrangements for an abortion I guess. It is too late to take the morning after pill so this is your best option at the moment.
Make sure it is right for both of you before doing it though as you don't want to regret it after the fact. It is your and your partners decision though and don't let these right to lifers put you off. If you believe having a baby is not for you at this time...then it is better to do it now rather than resent an innocent child for being born (as a lot of people do).
Best of luck to you.

Well, at this moment you may not want to have a child, but how are you going to feel a month from now, three months, 6 months. Most pregnancy's aren't planned but the birth of their child brings excitement. Abused children usually come from planned pregnancies. I would reconsider and think about what you are really asking. Is your wife carrying a child that could be your pride and joy? Bundles of Joy? Just remember that just because it isn't planned doesn't mean it won't just work out in your lives in ways that are unexpected. Life itself is a miracle and the way that children just seem to fit into our lives is a miracle too.

Have her make an apartment with her doctor, and they will give you all the needed information and options. Sometimes though the thought of a child can scare you more than anything else so I would personally suggest putting a lot of thought into this that way you don't regret anything later in life. Most women who have abortions need a great deal of counseling due to guilt and the what if feeling. Hope all goes well.

At such an early stage, she does not need to go through a surgical abortion (that is where they use a suction to suck the embryo out). Your wife could get the chemical abortion with the Mifepristone pill. Your family doctor can prescribe this pill, and you can get the pill prescription filled at walgreens, (or whichever pharmacy you choose).

You can have a chemical (pill) abortion up to 5-6 weeks, then after that, you have to have the suction (surgical) abortion. 12 weeks (3 months) is the cut off point for getting a "legal" abortion.

There are also "herbal" abortions, but I don't believe in them. (they rarely work) You just need to go see your doctor to get it done and don't try any over the counter herbs such as Dong Quai, etc.. to try to miscarry, because it won't work.

Good Luck

I'm begging you not to abort the baby. By the time she has an appointment for the abortion, the heart will already be beating! I conceived 4 weeks ago, and my little baby's already moving her limbs, her heart's been beating and her facial features are starting to form.

This is a HUMAN BEING growing inside your wife. This is a life. A baby. If you don't want to care for a child now, give the baby up for adoption. Just don't kill your own child!

If abortion isn't stopping a life, then what is it stopping? Why do we do all we can to make sure a wanted baby grows well and safely inside it's mother, but we have no problem murdering a viable unborn baby simply because we don't want it.

Abortion should not be used for birth control methods.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reconsider. That's YOUR flesh and blood growing in your wife. That's the child you made out of love for your wife.

Look, if you want it done that is your decision. You are adults. Babies are people. It depends on your beliefs. I personally think it is her decision not yours. Be supportive. It is your baby she is carrying. I personally don't know any married men who would want his own wife to abort his baby. Good luck to you. Some people shouldn't be pregnant.

You know if you didn't want to have a baby there were other options like: using protection, abstaining from sex. It's too late now how could you harm one of your children? Something you and your wife made together? If anything there are plenty of people in the world that want children and cant have any put it up for adoption
