I looked into buying my council house several years ago and they said I could have it fo 65K, not too bad. WhenI asked about a mortgage they wanted £400 a month

I really wish I knew how they came up with this affordable housing idea, the only way I can see how they did it was from statistics yet again, I would just love to know how they can say something at £150K is affordable to the ordinary working man, if you take the minimum wage and double it you still couldn't afford a mortgage on a £150K house, I think whoever it is that came up with the affordable housing needs to spend a year living on the salary of a honest working man.

Affordable housing whats that?? I cant afford a cardboard box to live in let alone a house, they are way to expensive. Also what makes me laugh is, council houses, I know that i am never going to be able to afford a house/mortgage etc so i will be council as my parents gran parents etc have been before me. Our estate has 20 houses on it, all originally where council, guess how many are council now 2!!! I think it is so wrong council houses should stay council houses for those who cant afford these damn affordable houses!!

sorry to rant. x

The economy factors decide far as I know..but I also think where in the country you live determines cost of living and housing...150-200K is only average for middle class here...anything below that is consider low income, which I don't think is fair anyway..A nice home can be had for half those amounts around here..=)

The entire world is all about how much how fast, housing is extremely expensive specially in over populated areas such as London, seeing young people in their mid to late twenties still living with their parents will become a more common thing.
