Just by adding a 44 year old SUPERSTAR (and yes, he is a superstar) is not going to beef up your whole entire lineup. Yes, you can assume a win when he pitches, but he can only pitch every 5 times. So that means if the Yanks play 7 games in 7 days and he pitches starting on Monday, they will go 2-5 that week. Unless Chien Mean Wanker starts pitching, Loose Moose gets his head out of his butt, or the other Chinese bust decides to do something.

CHING CHANG WADDA WADDA BING BANG who cares where they are from! The point is Roger Clemens is 44 or 45 depending on how you count! The reason he waited this long to sign is because he was fat and over weight! It takes longer for him to get out of the recliner in the spring and he needed to work out. I must say he is a superstar but he is not worth 28 mil. I actually think if I was the Yankee's I would use him as a closer put him in during the 7th inning and let him finish the game. This brings up another question though does baseball need a starting pitcher relief pitcher and a closing pitcher? NO I have an idea lets just take a card board cut out Roger and duct tape it to a pitching machine ....that way every team can have a middle aged fat money hungry has been pitcher.
GO BOSOX!
GO PIRATES........win a WORLD SERIES BEFORE I DIE! (ITHINK THATS POSSIBLE I AM ONLY 27)

Clemens wont mean anything because their bullpen is junk. They got a quality start last night against the Mariners and as soon as it was turned over to the bullpen the game turned around and another Yankees loss. They Yankees have some good starters and Clemens could add a bit but remember he is 45 and coming off a mediocre year in the weaker National League where the batters 7-9 are not as tough as the American League. Even if he is great he is now only a 6 inning pitcher on average, he is no longer an 8 or 9 inning guy so the bullpen is going to be in there a few innings which could easily blow the game.

Not until they their closer gets his stuff together and the bullpen gets help. Oh, their batting lineup hasn't lived up to the hype either. A-Rod is the only one who is actually hitting the way they expect. The rest like Damon for example are struggling a bit, even though he is hurt. For someone who is supposedly so dominating, I would say comparing both teams below, they are pretty comparable in a lot of areas and by no means, was the Red Sox lineup ever thought to be overpowering, except for maybe Manny and Papi.
Red Sox:
Gm AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB
30 1008 150 270 53 7 30 140 427 136 177 19
cs obp slg avg
4 .357 .424 .268
Yankees:
Gm AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB so sb
30 1060 176 298 54 2 34 170 458 121 182 17
cs obp slg avg

Clemens will help the Yankees but he is not an everyday player so his contribution will be limited to every 4 days. The psyche will be improved but how long will that last especially if Clemens struggles and possibly does what he did last year in going 7-6. Granted he is on a better hitting team this year and will give him better run support, but how long and how many innings can he give you to increase your potential and get you to postseason. They will still need to make a move to bolster their old bullpen and others will have to contribute to enable the Yankees to make it to the Series. It is a great price to pay for a 4 month player despite his Hall of Fame favored status and will only start probably 25-30 times. I hope the Yankees feel that he is worth a million dollars a start.

First off, Igawa is Japanese and Wang is Korean..get your facts straight before you sound like an idiot. Also you can't assume a win when anyone is pitching regardless of how good they are, everyone has off days. That being said the Rocket will help them greatly, but not carry them to the World Series. Someone else on the starting staff will have to step up to get them there. I hate the Yankees as much as the next guy, but this move has to make them the favorites if they can ever get healthy. They have a potential all-star at 8 spots in the lineup and 4 pretty good starters. I hate to say this, but if they can get everyone back they look pretty good if the bullpen can get it on track.

The ageless wonder will not help the Boss with much. Torre will still get fired and Clemens will take half the season to choose who he is going to play for. Clemens cant pitch every game for nine innings can he. And what has happened to Rivera he used to be lights out. Maybe Papbelbon took that from him. I still say Yankees dont make the playoffs.

They have no chance, a guy that pitches every four days and isn't with the team those four days really can't help the team.

It looks like this move gives them an abundance in starting pitching. And while they don't need help there, they'll probably trade one of them for relief later in the season.

He's really 45! They will still not make it to the World Series! It's like this: You sign the old...You get old! But it's not that way with Schilling cause he's only 40!
