well it shouldn't be up to the dem's to change it all if us average joe's tried a little maybe we could get our point across but most joe's are lazy and conditioned to sit on their couch or in their car so thay will complain all they like but do nothing about it ....i am lucky enough to live in a place where we have been able to take a stand and we are only using our car for my husband to go to work we have put child seats on our bikes and baskets on the fronts so that we can go to the store, the movies, chuckie cheese etc with out using our car my hubby would like to ride to work but it's just too far and off a highway not the best riding conditions we also have a vacation comming up but we are considering not taking it we don't want to pay the cost to fly anywhere so i know it probabaly doesn't help but if we could get many more folks to join us it might make a small difference and send a message to the oil companies that they can kiss my as*

If memory serves this old man, I believe that a fair number of the Dems were in favor of high oil prices which their avid supporters, the Greenies, believe will make people more likely to support alternative fuel research and drive less. Also it generates a LOT of tax money for the govt which makes all the politicians happy. So Joe Average is probably screwed if he is waiting for the pols, Dem or Rep, to do anything.

All this talk of high oil prices? Have you looked at the cost of a barrel of oil today? $61. Gas prices are higher now than they were in the past when oil was $75. SO IT'S NOT THE PRICE OF OIL. iT'S THE AMOUNT OF GAS WE ARE USING. I drive about 1000 miles a week for my job. I have mad a point to slow down to the posted speed limits. EVERYONE passes me at high rates of speed. You want cheaper gas, SLOW DOWN. Use less fuel and prices drop. It's simple supply and demand. Use less. Demand goes down supply goes up prices drop. During the Arab oil embargo, the nationwide speed limit was reduced to 55. Now with record high prices limits are going up. Be smart people if you are going to drive 80mph then quit complaining. Your as much of the problem as the government.

Nothing is going to change gas prices will stay high and the oil companies will make a profit as it is their right to do so. The Democrats will say don't blame us the Republicans caused the problem and nothing will change.

Their strategy to team up with Iran to proclaim defeat in Iraq is driving up oil prices. Too bad nobody knows this is pushing up oil costs. While they proclaim oil companies are evil, they are the enemy of America when they say we lost the war. This creates a sense of fear around the world as most anyone knows terrorists are absolutely committed to attacking the west. So their sympathy with the terrorist agenda breeds fear that drives up oil prices. Oil prices fall when there is a sense of security, when the world thinks a strong nation will protect it. But they have made the US out to be idiots who can't win against unruly terrorists. Even though the US owns the night in Iraq and is an overwhelming force there. All the Democrats want to see is the Iranian image of choppers lifting off Baghdad rooftops in defeat, just as they achieved when we lost Vietnam and Somalia. Iran is counting on this, thanks to the Democrats.

dems will never do anything controversial or, anything that could cost them the support of the PACS. the only time they ever show backbone is when demonstrating and slandering our republican public officials. however, even then, the only solution they have to our problems is to stop doing what we are currently doing. following those types of statements, the vast majority of dems simply fall mum, as they are more than anything else afraid of offending any possible supporter in developing their own platforms. dems are at this time, as always, waging their campaigns of negativity in hopes that those americans who enjoy the gutter will follow in suit.

What you take for caution is something else again.
The Democrats represent people from all over America, 50 states and 300 million people you know, and without constraint, they have a tendency to disagree with each other now and then.
.
The Republicans, fearful of being shut out of the next white house barbecue, will all fall into line and read nasty comments from the same page.
The Republicans, and some Democrats, who receive millions in contributions from the oil companies, will stonewall the Democrats at every turn.
,
The ball is and has always been in our court.
It is us, the people who have to demand fair and honest government.
To do so, I suggest we all vote Democratic!

he's barely centred on Israel and can have US dragged right into a conflict with Iran for its sake. Joe, you may not have twin loyalty - flow and stay in Israel. isn't US's interest to guard this occupying power.

How many "Dems" are as connected to big oil as Cheney and Bush? When our country has had an oil crisis in the past, the government has told people how to use less gas.(No jack rabbit starts, slow down a little, don't race to the next stop light, etc.)That AIN'T happening now. They do not want their buddies to go without.
